Apple has launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones yesterday at the launch event and with the iPhone 6 launch all other major giants are now out their flagship smartphones as well. Few months back Samsung has announced Samsung Galaxy S5 mini with 4.5 inch display. Most of the specifications looks similar in both the smartphones with few differences. Let us see the comparison of both the devices and which one worths your money.
Apple iPhone 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S5 mini
Design
Apple iPhone 6 Plus has the nice looking curved aluminium design and it offers good feel when held in hands too, where as Galaxy S5 mini has very regular design same as Galaxy S5 and the back is same faded perforated plastic which we have seen on S5. It looks and feel cheaper even when it is on.
Galaxy S5 mini doesn’t catch up the design of Apple iPhone 6 as its curved aluminium edges and and all-metal black brings the rich look to the phone. The glass screen also having the slight curve at the edges which makes you feel pleasant in the hands. As it is already expected that, iPhone build quality is excellent and the buttons and switches are firm and responsive.
iPhone 6 is thinner as compared to Galaxy S5 mini. In design factor iPhone is clearly dominating Galaxy S5 mini.
Display
iPhone 6 sports 4.7 inch Retina HD display and IPS LED -backlit screen with 1334 x 750 pixels resolution, where Galaxy S5 mini features bit smaller screen with 4.5 inch screen Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the screen from scratches.
iPhone 6 features more pixels than Galaxy S5 mini, but the display technology Galaxy S5 mini uses is better than iPhone. S5 mini uses Super AMOLED display which is better than iPhone’s IPS display.
Camera
Camera specifications are almost same for both the devices. Galaxy S5 mini sports 8-Megapixel rear camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels resolution and iPhone is also having 8-Megapixel camera with 1.5µ pixels resolution. Both are having front camera, as S5 mini is having 2.1 MegaPixel camera and iPhone 6 having 1.2 Megapixel camera.
Although both have same camera specifications, we can expect iPhone camera far better than Samsung’s. I already said camera clarity doesn’t depend only on number of pixels, but also there are some other factors influence camera quality.
Processor and RAM
iPhone 6 is powered by its native powerful A8 processor with 64-bit architecture and M8 motion coprocessor. Apple is using the 64-bit processor for the first time, Samsung Galaxy S5 mini is powered by 1.4 GHz Exynos 3 Quad core processor. Apple’s A8 is more advanced and powerful processor and makes iPhone 6 more powerful with it’s native processor. S5 mini’s Exynos is though powerful, but not as advanced as A8 chipset.
iPhone takes the clear advantage by its 64-bit architecture processor and as we know iPhone processors are faster and advanced. Coming to the RAM, S5 mini has 1.5 GB RAM, we can’t expect higher RAM in mini version devices and Apple has not disclosed any details of RAM in iPhone 6.
Storage
iPhone 6 comes in three variants 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB where as Galaxy Mini S5 has internal storage of 16 GB . iPhone 6 has no option for expandable memory, but S5 mini features an option to expand the memory upto 64 GB using the micro SD card. iPhone has taking the clear edge here as there is no need of expandable storage in iPhone 6.
iPhone 6 is completely dominating Galaxy S5 mini almost all aspects, but the price of Samsung S5 mini is less compared to iPhone 6. S5 mini costs around $490 whereas iPhone available for $600 (excluding tax).
