GEORGE TOWN: Three primary school students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Selamat in North Seberang Perai were rushed to the Kepala Batas hospital for suspected food poisoning after they were said to have consumed candies with food colouring on it.

Penang Health Department director Datuk Dr Zailan Adnan said the two males and one female pupil were first treated at the Tasek Gelugor health clinic at around 4pm on Tuesday and were subsequently sent to the hospital for observation.

She said the cause of the food poisoning is yet to be known as the pupils had consumed a variety of food before falling ill.

" They did not show any signs of stiffness and agitation," she told theSun, adding that the students were reported to be in stable condition.

Based on checks by theSun, the food poisoning case first came to light on Thursday when it was circulated by the parents of the affected students on Whatsapp.

When contacted, Penang Education Department Director Shaari Osman confirmed the incident, and said the affected pupils had been hospitalised.
