We're on the lookout for a talented junior PHP developer to join our team highly creative technical team.

Job Description:

The Student Room site is a highly customised and extended version of vBulletin. Working with the rest of the development team you will:

Work on all technical developments of the Student Room, including the customisation of bespoke templates and plug-ins.

Help us maintain the existing codebase.

Learn to scope, design and deliver on new PHP web projects.

Learn to provide the optimisation and fine-tuning required to enable 6 million unique visitors make half a million posts each month.

Skills Range:

It’s essential that you have:

A good Computer Science degree or equivalent qualification.

Some programming experience in PHP in a Linux environment, with both structured and knowledge of object-oriented design.

Basic knowledge of MySQL database design and complex query generation, and optimisation.

Good communication skills and a professional and friendly manner.

Confidence to work independently and under own initiative.

Nice to have but not essential:

Commercial PHP development experience

Some experience of using GIT version control

Key Area: Programming/Developer
Salary: £20,000-£25,000
Attendance: Full-Time
