As a blogger with a full time job, I often find myself spending a good chunk of the weekend working. It’s not my favorite thing in the world, but I love what I do so I don’t really mind. With the three day weekend, I decided that I wouldn’t even think about my day job or my blog for Saturday and Sunday… and had the loveliest time doing so! It probably helped that my cold is finally gone… two weeks later! Day drinking, a little pampering, a little shopping… and lots of friend-time… there’s nothing better!

Saturday started out at Sally Hershberger downtown, with a little quality time with my stylist, Lucille Javier. If you are in the market for going a little blonder, I can’t say enough good things about her. I get my hair painted (or ballayage) and she just does the most amazing job. I see her and then get a blow out by Jae Cardenas… they are my hair spirit animals – I just love them so much! I left with my mane re-blonded, feeling a little bit more ready for fashion week.

Once I’d gone a little blonder, I headed to Brooklyn, to the McCarren Hotel & Pool to meet my friend Alex for some much needed sunshine and rosé. We went all out and got a daybed, which was pretty much the best idea ever.

Lobster rolls + more rosé = heaven! (My sunglasses are from Super – you can get ‘em here.)

(No but seriously, why didn’t we do this every. single. weekend!?)

After our pool time, we headed upstairs for a few cocktails – I fell in love with the rooftop terrace – it’s such a neat little spot!  As you can see, I was quite comfortable. I really want to go back and have a party or happy hour there… the vibe was very cool. Moroccan poofs, lanterns… very chic but low key. (Wearing: hat // tunic // James Jeans shorts // sandals)

Later that night, it was back to Brooklyn to meet up with my sister for a friend’s 30th birthday party… (wearing a SEA New York Top)

The next day, I got up and met Victoria for an early-ish brunch at Friend of a Farmer. If you’ve never been there, (weirdly, I hadn’t… and it’s right down the street from me!) I highly recommend it. I had the most delicious egg white omelette with feta cheese, tomatoes + spinach. They have an extensive menu of fresh juices and give you the yummiest corn bread with mashed up apples. So good. After brunch, I had an hour to kill so I stopped into Casa Mono to visit my friend Stanley for a glass of wine and dessert. The olive oil ice cream with macerated peaches was so refreshing and yummy… (and perfect as it was such a hot day!!!)

After all of that food, I headed over to Trina Turk to do a little fashion week shopping. I’m not going to tell you everything I got, but these sandals are the absolute best… sexy but insanely comfortable! Like, so comfortable that I could probably wear them all day at the office and then out afterward.

And then, it was off to meet Alex again. We decided to go to Soho to do a little shopping and day drinking (notice a theme, here) and I really wanted to go to Bite Beauty’s lip lab to make our own custom lipstick. Alas, you need an appointment, but I can’t wait to go back. I’m a little bit hooked on the brand (I’ll be talking about them more later this week), but everything is all natural and the colors are really beautiful. Right now I’m hooked on their Cashmere Lip Creams… Sherry is my favorite (a great red/orange!)

After that, it started to pour… so we stumbled into The Dutch for (surprise!) more wine… and oysters. (Not pictured – the cheese plate we inhaled!)

We ended the day at Paintbox (my favorite nail salon) for a little pre-fashion week nail art. I wrote about Paintbox in more detail here, but it really is the ultimate girls’ treat… they have the prettiest, most classy nail art ever (I’m ordinarily not so into nail art – but, look at their lookbook!) in a beautiful setting… and they serve champagne + wine while you’re getting pampered!

Such a fun weekend… sad that it’s over!
