"Megadeth just brought their Gigantour through Washington—kicking off early on a Tuesday afternoon. First up, was old school Metallica guitarist Jason Newsted. Back from a short hiatus from the tour due to a case of pneumonia, Newsted set the show off right. Tracks off their upcoming album Heavy Metal Music (due out next week) graced the set list, along with "Whiplash" for all the old 'Tallica fans.
Hellyeah played next, and were feeling it—frontman Chad Grey always delivers. Seems the older he gets, the higher he jumps. Hellyeah's set looked and sounded great.
Black Label Society had me entertained with the light show, and Zakk Wylde's guitar solos seemed to go on forever. Personally, I prefer his solos over their songs... Makes me think of Dimebag.
Onto Megadeth: Props to whoever designed their stage show. Smoke rolled in low across the stage as the intro played. Visually, the whole first song was like something out of a movie or music video. On the other hand, the audio was "a little to good to be true"... Dave Mustaine seems to be getting a little help these days—but at least they're still going strong, and still stealing the show." —KT Wright
