We’ve all been there. Kneeling in a hot car, tugging and pulling as you try to get a car seat installed in your vehicle. It’s the ultimate tug-o-war to try and get them in! Well good news mommies – the car seat fight is over with the arrival of Britax’s Advocate ClickTight ARB car seat!
I had the pleasure of attending a luncheon with Alamo City Moms Blog to learn about Britax’s new car seat and it was perfect timing! Foster is ready to move out of his infant car seat (our current one is not convertible) and I’d been trying out different options the last couple of weeks. And let me tell you how impressed I was with the new Britax system!
The new system has a variety of safety features including their Anti-Rebound Bar (ARB) which minimizes forces associated with crashes by stabilizing the car seat when installed rear-facing. It also has the Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator which makes it easy to tell if your child’s harness is properly tightened. Additionally, it offers three layers of side impact protection, an impact-absorbing base and steel frame for maximum safety.
In addition to the safety features I was in love with the ease of installation. On average up to 75% of car seats are installed incorrectly and Britax’s ClickTight Installation System makes it so much easier for parents to install the seat correctly. All you do is open the front of the car seat, buckle the seat belt across and click the seat shut. To view this click here. I used to fight my car seats to try to get them in tightly (and most of the time ended up asking Daddy Russ to help me). But with this car seat I could do it all by myself and could tell the seat wouldn’t be budging!
As I also mentioned the seat is convertible from rear-facing to forwards and has a weight limit of 5-65lbs so it’s going to be in our family for quite a long time! This model retails for $469.99 and is a worthy investment for the safety of your child! To learn more click here.
Car Seat Safety Tips From Britax:
Register your car seat.
Never use an expired car seat or one with an unknown history.
A securely installed car seat should not move more than 1 inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.
Never install a car seat in front of an airbag.
Children should ride in the back seat until age 13.
Once a child outgrows the rear-facing-only “infant” car seat, he/she should travel in a rear-facing “convertible” car seat.
It’s best for children to remain in a rear-facing car seat for as long as possible, until at least 2 years of age or until reaching the maximum height, weight, or seated shoulder height capacity of the seat.
When children are rear-facing in a car seat, it’s important for the seat to be installed in a reclined position to help keep baby’s head and neck supported and airways clear.
Always tighten the harness until snug.
Look before you lock. Never leave a child unattended in a vehicle.
You should NOT use both the vehicle seat belt system and LATCH to install your harnessed child seat.
To maximize safety, keep your child in a harnessed car seat for as long as possible –as long as the child fits within the manufacturer’s height and weight requirements.
Keep children in a car seat with a five-point harness for as long as possible; Don’t rush to transition your child to a belt-positioning booster seat.
