Donald Trump has become a phenomenon. Not always in the way he’d prefer, but perhaps all publicity really is good publicity?

He was always going to be the subject of anti-Trump political campaigns. He has an outrageous M.O.

But he is also the gift that keeps giving to creatives. And Jeffrey Da Silva, co-executive creative director of Sid Lee, has turned that into a gift to be shared by all.

Trump Against Humanity is an (unofficial) expansion pack for Cards Against Humanity. Its by-line is “A Party Game About a Horrible Person”.

Don’t know about Cards Against Humanity? It’s a card game in which one player draws and lays down a card that contains a statement with key words left blank and the remaining players fill in the blank with a card from their hand containing words that are absurd as possible. A number of expansion packs already exists.

Trump Against Humanity was produced by Sid lee Creative. That’s not the same as Sid Lee, the Canadian ad agency it’s “a program that helps our people bring their personal creative projects to life by financing, producing, and showcasing them. In constant flux, the program has gone through various cycles that made projects possible in a host of different disciplines, from industrial design to music. Some projects are bombs, others are stars, the program itself goes through ups and downs, but the creative freedom it allows pushes us outside of our comfort zone. This is the spirit of Sid Lee Collective,” in its own words.

“We were looking for quotes that lent themselves to the most offensive, absurd, combinations that captured the same twisted sense of humour in Cards Against Humanity,” Da Silva stated, “But Trump did most of the legwork for us, since he can’t seem to go long without saying something ridiculous.”

The unofficial cards can be added to existing packs or played as a stand alone game, but they’re not yet for sale. There’s a little problem of a law suit to conquer first. No, Trump is not suing. It’s possible that he’s thriving on the attention.

Humanity Hates Trump’s company, SCS Direct, is Suing Cards Against Humanity.

Not because the new game is a rip-off. In fact, Cards Against Humanity is itself a rip-off – of the game Apples to Apples. Game mechanics are not subject to copyright, so there are already very many legal, money-making, unofficial Cards Against Humanity expansions already exist. Advertising Against Humanity and Cats Abiding Horribly are particularly good.

Allegedly, Cards Against Humanity contacted SCS Direct’s owner, Howard Greenspan, and asked for a number of changes, all of which Greenspan OK-ed, except for changing the cards from black and white.

A complaint was made to Kickstarter over Greenspan’s funding campaign and the campaign was removed, which meant that it lost money and couldn’t fulfill pre-launch product sales.

…which is a shame because demand is so great there’s now a website where you can request to order it.
