MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of this college showcase is to provide teams a tournament that the softball athlete can state

her case for why she should be recruited to play at the college level.

24 - 30 Max

18U = 12-15 teams @ 43 foot pitching distance ? 18U starts play @ 8:00 am Friday

16U = 12-15 teams @ 43 foot pitching distance ? 16U starts play @ 8:00 am Friday

Or any combination of the (2) age groups for a total of 24-30 teams.16U teams will be mixed playing 18U teams in pool games ( and possibly bracket play ). Please see ?FORMAT ** NEW **? below?.

AGE GROUP PLAY-UPS

We will ONLY accept 16U or 18U age eligible teams for 2017. Exceptions MAY be considered by

Tournament Committee.

FORMAT ** NEW **

The tournament will be a (5) game minimum. OPTION A ? 4 Pool Play Games with Seeding onto Single-Elimination Bracket Play. OR OPTION B - Each team will play (3) pool games on Friday with the exception of some teams playing a third pool game on Saturday morning. All teams will be placed on a double-elimination bracket (BLIND DRAW) while registering for the tournament on Friday. Teams from the same organization will be placed on the bracket opposite of their sister team (if applicable). All pool games will be 1 hour & 25 minute time limit, finish the inning.

Double-Elimination Bracket Play will begin Saturday morning after final round of Pool Games are completed. All Bracket play games will be 1 hour & 30 minute time limit, finish the inning. Then go straight to the ASA international tie breaker until there is a declared winner or at the top

of the 8th inning, whichever comes first. Championship game(s) will be 7 full innings - NO TIME LIMIT ? (3) Umpires. This includes any ?what-if? games that may be played. Championship game(s) will start approximately at 3:00 PM, with the possibility of the ?what-if? games adding an additional time slot.

**If the tournament attracts the desired mix of teams (12 to 15 -16u and 12 to 15 -18u or? something close), we will break the bracket portion of the tournament into two separate ?tournaments??. 1 16-u bracket and 1 18-u bracket. If the mix is not achieved, we will blind draw each

team on to two ? DOUBLE-ELIMINATION BRACKETS that one or both may contain teams from both age groups. This will be determined by the Tournament Committee when schedules are set.

TOURNAMENT SANCTION & UMPIRES

This tournament is a pure showcase sanctioned and officiated by ASA. All games will have (2) umpires except for the championship game(s), which will have (3) umpires.

ENTRY FEE

18U & 16U teams = $675 entry fee

The entry fee must be a personal check or money order made out to ?The Ohio Wolfpack Organization?. All teams will be notified via e-mail that their entry form and check has been received. Entries will not be considered without full payment enclosed. NO REFUNDS will be made after your team has been accepted into the tournament.

**DUE DATE**

All entries must be postmarked by Saturday January 14th, 2017. The selection process will not begin before this date. Selection will not be done on a first come, first served basis.

SELECTION

Selection will be determined by committee only. Many criteria will be used to determine the final tournament field. Every year it is a painstaking process that we approach with a great deal of effort. Among the factors to be considered will be strength/results of your actual 2016 playing schedule, strength of your proposed 2017 playing schedule, completeness/honesty of paperwork, and for 16U & 18U teams, a listing of the colleges and universities following your team/players.

Due to the number of applicants, we will not be able to provide teams with individual explanations of why they were not accepted into the tournament field. Thank you for understanding.

PLAYING STATUS NOTIFICATION

All teams will be notified of their playing status via e-mail approximately by Monday January 21st 2017.

2 ? Copy of ASA Roster

3 ? Copy of Team Insurance

4 ? Copy of ACE Cards for all coaches who have taken the ACE Certification (Required of at least one)

5 ? Back Round Checks for ALL Coaches (Required by Ohio ASA) FYI ? if all coaches get ACE certified,

6 ? Copy of Concussion Certificates for ALL PEOPLE IN DUGOUT (Required by the State of Ohio)

ROSTERS

This tournament is an open roster event within age group guidelines and the use of college players is permitted but not encouraged. Coaches will be asked for rosters at check-in, but you will be able to add players to your roster (Print name(s) and have required signature on Roster). In other words, if a team has

COLLEGE PLAYERS

Any 16U or 18U ASA eligible softball athletes (D1, D2, D3, NAIA) are ELIGIBLE to compete in the tournament.

GATE FEE

There will be a gate fee at Willig Fields. The cost will be $6.00 per person per day (14 & under free)

We will also offer a weekend pass at a reduced rate of $15.00 per person. Please have Parents/Coaches show their wrist bands when walking into Willig Fields at the entrance, as this will eliminate confusion between the Gate workers and guests. Coolers can be brought into Willig Fields.

PARKING

There is ample parking at Willig Fields.

TEAM & SPECTATOR CONDUCT

This tournament is an ASA Junior Olympic event and as such, excessive behavior and the use of profanity by ANY adult or player MAY lead to ejection from the playing site and could lead to denial of entry for their team the following year. ALL TEAM MEMBERS AND FANS MUST ENTER AND EXIT THE PARK THROUGH THE FRONT GATE LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF THE MAIN PARKING LOT BETWEEN FIELD #1 AND FIELD #2

SMOKING

Smoking is NOT ALLOWED inside Willig Fields. Please be sensitive to the people around you! If you decide to smoke, please move outside the 300? permanent fences (parking lot)!

CONCESSIONS

Concessions will be available at Willig Fields. The concessions at Willig are managed and run by a private person or company, NOT The Ohio Wolfpack Organization. If an injury occurs during play, the

concession stand DOES NOT have ice on hand for player injuries, so PLEASE, come prepared!

PETS

Pets are NOT allowed inside the gate at Willig Fields. **PLEASE notify your parents/fans of this policy.

RESTROOMS

Indoor restrooms are provided at Willig Fields. There will be port-a-pots available for additional use that will be located near the main entrance.

HOME RUN FENCES

At Willig Fields, there will be 200-210 ft. temporary fences set up. Please use the areas behind the fences

to warm up.

SAFETY NETTING

There are tentative plans for the Canton Joint Recreation Department to install safety netting above the

Spectator seating area between all (4) fields. If completed by next summer, this will significantly increase spectator safety and decrease one?s chance of being hit by a foul ball.
