The holiday experience takes shape this season at Heavenly Mountain Resort, where sparkling ice skaters, spinning rings of flame, and blazing fireworks reflect the spirit of the season in the faces of joyous revelers. Co-produced by Tahoe South, Heavenly Holidays will feature 12 days of festivities, kicking off with photos with Santa in his 16-foot snow globe, and concluding with the world’s only Gondola Ball Drop to mark the start of 2014.

“The energy during Heavenly Holidays is truly one-of-a-kind,” says Pete Sonntag, vice president and COO of Heavenly. “The lineup of events makes it easy for families to extend the special experience they have on the mountain into the afternoon and evening. Heavenly Holidays will be entertaining our holiday guests for the third year running, and I think you will be hard-pressed to find someone out there without a smile on his or her face.”

After marveling at chainsaw-wielding ice sculptors in Heavenly Village, guests can access their own thrills on Heavenly’s terrain, soaring 3,500 vertical feet above Lake Tahoe and highlighted by iconic views. Winter wonderland conditions abound with the West Coast’s largest snowmaking system and high elevation terrain serving as a magnet for big Tahoe snow. The action continues while the sounds of the season are piped in from a live DJ and carolers, plus a final blow-out at the New Year’s Eve outdoor concert featuring Wes Quave Live.

 Santa’s Workshop Snow Globe – December 20-24, 2:00-7:00 p.m.

Step inside Santa’s Workshop, recreated within a giant snow globe, where guests can talk and take photos with Santa himself! A disc jockey will be there to spin holiday favorites December 21 and 22, and Carolers will perform December 23 and 24 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

 Ice Skating Spectacular – December 28-30, 7:30 p.m.

Each night will bring a different show featuring some of the best figure skaters in the country. Located at the Heavenly Village Ice Rink, the Ice Skating Spectacular will conclude with a Grand Finale Show on December 30.

Fear-No-Ice Sculpting Exhibitions – December 28-30, 10 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Witness Heavenly Village transform into a gallery of ice, as professional sculptors create huge pieces to add each day. These “Fear-No-Ice” exhibitions are hardly a museum affair, however, as costumed sculptors race to carve their creations under twinkling lights.

New Year’s Eve Celebration – December 31, 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Heavenly Holidays reach their zenith on New Year’s Eve, when fire, lights and music fill the air. The Fire Groove fire dancers will be adeptly twirling rings of flame, while a photo booth, games and face-painting will be open to all. High-energy act Wes Quave Live will perform an outdoor concert that will get the audience moving, and the “Fear-No-Ice” sculptors will get their saws buzzing for a special New Year’s Eve exhibition. At 9:00 p.m., in time for the midnight Ball Drop in New York City’s Time Square, Heavenly’s Gondola Ball Drop will cross above the crowd, and a world-class fireworks show will light up the night. Guests can kick off 2014 in one of the many popular casino clubs in South Lake Tahoe, and go all in celebrating the New Year!
