PCC Natural Markets opened its newest store in Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood July 24, replacing a smaller Seward Park location that operated for 30 years. The new 25,000-s.f. store, at 3610 S. Edmunds Street, is located in The Angeline, a mixed-use development at the intersection of Rainier Avenue S. and S. Edmunds Street. Additionally, the Seattle-based certified organic retail cooperative has plans to open its 11th store in Bothell next year.

PCC offers a full line of natural and organic grocery products, best-in-class produce, full-service meat and seafood departments, as well as a wide variety of prepared foods and grab-and-go deli items made fresh daily and on site. Deli offerings include a taqueria, noodle bowl bar, pizza, smoothies, espresso drinks and salad, soup and hot food bar choices.

PCC says the Columbia City store embodies a number of environmentally-responsible features to minimize its carbon footprint in support of the environmental element of the company’s triple bottom line. The Columbia City location is the first of PCC’s Seattle stores to host a WISErg Harvester that repurposes food scraps from store operations into high-quality liquid fertilizer.

The new location also features a fully-equipped cooking classroom—one of many upgrades from the Seward Park location. Classes offered though the PCC Cooks program began Aug. 4.

Additionally, PCC partners with local food banks in each of the neighborhoods its serves to provide nutritious bulk food—purchased with shopper donations—to local residents in need. The Columbia City PCC is partnering with the Rainier Valley Food Bank, Jewish Family Services Food Bank and Chicken Soup Brigade. PCC also is a sponsor of the Columbia City Farmers Market, the Rainier Valley Heritage Parade and the Columbia City Gateway Project.

Complimentary 90-minute parking for PCC shoppers is provided in The Angeline parking garage, accessible from both Rainier Avenue S. and S. Edmunds Street.

Bothell store will make debut in 2016

PCC’s new 25,000-s.f. Bothell store will be located in Canyon Park Shopping Center at 22621 Bothell Everett Highway.

“We are delighted to announce that we will be bringing PCC’s best-in-class produce, our in-store made deli and prepared foods, and our wide variety of natural and organic grocery items—plus our excellent customer service—to shoppers in the Bothell, Mill Creek and Woodinville communities,” said PCC CEO Cate Hardy. “This new store location, just south of the intersection of Interstate 405 and the Bothell-Everett Highway, will be a convenient location for existing and future PCC customers. We look forward to being part of this growing and thriving community.”

The same team of professionals involved in the opening of PCC’s most recent stores, including the Columbia City location, have been tapped for the Bothell store; that includes Seattle-based Velocipede Architects and Woodman Construction.

Canyon Park Shopping Center is owned and operated by Retail Opportunity Investments Corp. (ROIC).

“We are thrilled to be bringing PCC to our shopping center,” said ROIC CEO Stuart Tanz. “With its high-quality, organic/natural offerings and established reputation in the Seattle market, PCC will serve as an excellent marquee tenant at our property and will become an integral part of the surrounding community. We look forward to building a long and successful relationship with PCC.”
