Hadi Sirika

11. Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika

Sen. Hadi Sirika is a former pilot as well as a a former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He represented Katsina North Senatorial District under the platform of Congress for Progressive Change. He is largely being touted to take over he aviation ministry.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Senator Hadi Sirika holds an Aircraft Engineers License from the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology, Zaria where he schooled between 1985 and 1989. He also attended Delta Aeronautics International, USA from 1994 to 1995 before proceeding to Flight Safety Academy in the United States. He also attended the Petroleum Helicopters Institute, USA.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

Fifty-one-year-old Sirika is a former pilot and business man whom had served as the General Manager of Katsina State Transport Service before venturing into politics. He was in the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007 and between 2011 and 2015, he represented Katsina North in the Senate.

As a senator, he served as the vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and served on several committees including that of aviation.

He was also appointed by president Buhari to serve on the Presidential Transition Committee headed by Alhaji Ahmed Joda.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Hadi Sirika is a professional pilot and was once an elected member of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Katsina North Senatorial District.

During his stint as a senator, he served as member of various committee and was also appointed Vice-Chairman of the Millennium Development Goals (MGDs) Committee.

He also commissioned several constituency projects.

12. Ibrahim Usman Jibril

Jibril is from Nasarawa state, a land reform specialist, and holds the traditional title of – Wamban Nasarawa, Nasarawa LGA of Nasarawa state. Sources say he might be the next Minister of Lands and Housing.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

Born January 1958, Ibrahim Usman Jibril holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education & Geography as well as a Master’s Degree in Land Resources with specialization in Land Administration both from the Bayero University (BUK), Kano.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

He has over 30 years of working experience, 25 of which were spent as a Land Officer in the administration of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. He was a Map Reading Instructor during his national service year at the Nigerian Army School of Artillery, Kachia – Kaduna state, Nigeria.

He has served at various times as Secretary of the Technical Committee on Rural Lands within the FCT, Ministerial Committee for the Appraisal of Physical Planning and Development Issues within the FCT, Land Use and Allocation Committee of the FCT, Task term on Computerization of the Cadastral and Land Registry of the FCT, which led to the establishment of Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS), a body that is the only official source of geospatial information for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

He was also a former Deputy Director, Development Control Abuja, and has worked with more than 5 FCT Ministers, He was once the Director of Land Administration Department of the FCT. Project Manager – Nasarawa Geographic Information System – NAGIS, a seasoned technocrat with specialization in urban renewal, spatial data management and land information system. He’s termed as the NAGIS’s Brain Box.

As SSA NAGIS to the Gov Al-makura of Nasarawa State, Ibrahim managed a project worth 2.7 billion Nigerian Naira, using modern geospatial technologies to develop a modern geospatial data infrastructure for the state. The project has three components: – Orthophoto Mapping, Geographic Information Service and Urban Planning & Urban renewal – commenced in May 2012.

ACHIEVEMENTS

In March this year, Ibrahim attended World Bank conference on land and propertyin Washington, where he presented a paperon Spatial Data infrastructures and land reform – lesson, from the Nasarawa experience. He presented the same paper at Africa Geospatial Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa between 18-19 August, 2015.

He helped developed Land use and Land cover maps for Nasarawa the entire state. This is an unprecedented development, something which has not been done by any other state so far.

His reform activities in NAGIS has significantly increased revenue generation people are encouraged by the efficient system and the secure documentation to register their land. More people have obtained Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) since the inauguration of NAGIS than any past comparable period of time. This has resulted in significant increases in the revenues generated.

Kayode Fayemi

13. Kayode Fayemi

A staunch Buhari supporter and the brain box of the APC manifesto, Fayemi’s inclusion on the ministerial list was no surprised as most analysts expected it to happen. He is even being suggested as Foreign Minister.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

He attended Christ’s School Ado Ekiti from 1975-1980 and received degrees in History, Politics and International Relations from the Universities of Lagos and Ife in Nigeria and his Doctorate in War Studies from the prestigious King’s College, University of London, England, specializing in civil-military relations.

His research and policy interests include: Democratisation, Constitutionalism, Security Sector Governance, and Regionalism in the Global Context.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

Kayode Fayemi is a former Director of the Centre for Democracy & Development, a research and training institution dedicated to the study and promotion of democratic development, peace-building and human security in Africa.

Prior to his establishment of the Centre, he worked as a lecturer, journalist, researcher and Strategy Development adviser in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He was Strategy Development Adviser at London’s City Challenge; research fellow at the African Research & Information Bureau in London, UK.

He was also reporter with the newspapers, The Guardian and City Tempo, editor of the political monthly, Nigeria-Now, management consultant at Development and Management Consultants and lecturer at the Police College in Sokoto.

Kayode Fayemi has lectured in Africa, Europe, the Americas and Asia. He has also served as an adviser on transitional justice, regional integration, constitutionalism, security sector reform and civil-military relations issues to various governments, inter-governmental institutions and development agencies.

He was the main technical adviser to Nigeria’s Human Rights Violations Investigation Commission (Oputa Panel), which investigated past abuses and currently serves on the Presidential Implementation Committees on Security Sector Reform, NEPAD and the Millennium Development Goals. He was technical expert to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on small arms and light weapons and United Nations Economic Commission of Africa on governance issues. He is also a member, Africa Policy Advisory Panel of the British Government.

At other times he has served as a consultant to the OECD on Security Sector Reform and chaired the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative’s Committee of Experts on developing guiding principles and mechanisms of constitution making in Commonwealth Africa.

Dr Fayemi serves on numerous Boards including the Governing Board of the Open Society Justice Institute, Baobab for Women’s Human Rights, African Security Sector Network, and on the Advisory Board of the Global Facilitation Network on Security Sector Reform and on the Management Culture Board of the ECOWAS Secretariat.

ACHIEVEMENTS

As a prominent leader of the Nigerian opposition to military rule in exile, he was responsible for the founding and management of the opposition radios – Radio Freedom, Radio Democracy International & Radio Kudirat and played a central role in the opposition’s diplomatic engagements in exile.

He gave an account of the process and roles played in the setting up of Radio Kudirat in his book titled ‘Out Of The Shadows’.

Kayode Fayemi is a Fellow of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Ibadan, Adjunct Professor of Security Studies at the African Centre for Strategic Studies, National Defense University, Fort McNair, Washington, D.C., USA.

He was also a Visiting Professor in the African Studies Programme at Northwestern University, Evanston, USA in 2004. He is also a one-term governor of Ekiti state.

Kemi Adeosun

14. Kemi Adeosun

She was the former Commissioner for Finance in Ogun State and a senior finance professional with 22 years experience gained internationally and within Nigeria. Political watchers are forecasting her as the next Minister of Finance.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Kemi Adeosun Was Born 9th March, 1967. She attended the famous University of East London between 1986 and 1989 after her secondary education where she bagged Bsc Hons degree in Applied Economics with Upper Second Class Honours.

An Applied Economist, Kemi graduated from the University of East London in 1989 and later in 1994 became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (England & Wales)

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

She was a senior manager at the Price Waterhouse Coopers, London. She is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales. She is a mother of three. She was born in 1967.

She furthered her education at University of London for Postgraduate Diploma in Public Financial Management

She had worked as Accounting assistant at British Telecom Company, London, from 1989 – 1990. Thereafter, she worked as a Senior audit officer at Goodman Jones, London, from 1990- 1993 before going on to become Manager of Internal Audit at London Underground Limited, London, from 1994 to 1995.

Adeosun also worked as a Manager Internal Audit, Prism Consulting between 1996 and 2000. She was a Senior Manager at the Price Waterhouse Coopers, London, from 2000 to 2002.

In 2002, she joined Chapel Hill Denham Management as a financial controller in and left the organisation as Managing Director in 2010. She also worked with Quo Vadis Partnership as Managing Director, from June 2010 to June 2011.

In 2011, Kemi Adeosun was appointed the Commissioner of Finance in Ogun state, a post she held until 2015.

Kemi Adeosun is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales as well as member of Chartered institute of Accountant of Nigeria.

Lai Mohammed

15. Alhaji Lai Mohammed

Very outspoken and ever ready to keep the then ruling party(PDP) on its toes with his timely and probing alarm to issues of national importance, Lai Muhammed, most analysts agree, was one of the strong pillars behind the APC success in the 2015 general elections.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Born in 1952, Lai Muhammed attended Native Authority School, Igbaja for his primary education, finishing in 1962. He then went to Government College Keffi, now Nasarawa State, graduating Grade 1 in 1968 . After his secondary education, he attended Obafemi Awolowo University and graduated in 1976, with a second upper degree in French

Then proceeded to the University of Lagos where he earned a Law degree, he thereafter went to the Nigerian Law School in 1986.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

Alhaji Lai Mohammed as a Lawyer co-founded the legal firm of Edu & Mohammed as a Senior Partner in 1989. Alhaji Lai Mohammed is a Businessman and an active politician and is the National Publicity Secretary of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nigeria.

Alhaji Mohammed served as the Chairman of Optmedia Limited, a subsidiary of Afromedia Plc since December 18, 2008. He served as a Director of Afromedia PLC since May 2011. He has worked as Public Relations Officer for almost 10 years with the Nigerian Airport Authority, now Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

ACHIEVEMENTS

Lai Mohammed is a Nigerian lawyer and the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is also a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

In 2002, Alhaji Lai Mohammed was a candidate for governor in the April 2003 Kwara State elections on the Alliance for Democracy platform.

Ogbonnaya Onu

16. Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu

As one of the underground players who played a very prominent role in the formation, and by extension, the victory of the APC at the polls, Ogbonnaya Onu is one of the few politicians that can lay claim to have been in the opposition since the inception of democratic rule in 1999.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Onu was born on December 1, 1951, in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. He obtained Grade One with distinction in his West African School Certificate examination at Izzi High School, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. He also obtained distinctions in Phys­ics and Chemistry at the Higher School Certificate examination at the College of Immaculate Conception, CIC, Enugu, graduating as the best overall student.

In 1976, he graduated with First Class Honours degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Lagos. He later obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Chemical Engineering (without passing through a Masters degree) at the reputable University of California, Berkeley, California, USA, in 1980.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

He worked as a Research Staff and Consultant at the Engineering Research Center, Western Electric in New Jersey, USA.

On return to Ni­geria, he started lecturing as the pioneer Head, Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt; Acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering in 1985 and was also elected by Senate into the Governing Council of the University.

In 1989, Onu served as a director of the Nigeria Cement Company, Nigercem, Nkalagu; visitor of Abia State University, Uturu. He was the pioneer National President of the Raw Materials Society of Nigeria, he was also a member, Pioneer Board of Governors of the Federal Government Raw Materials Research and Development Council.

In 1991, he was elected the first Governor of old Abia State. He commenced work on the establishment of a Technology Village and the introduction of computers into public schools. He was the first Chairman, Conference of Nigerian elected Governors.

In 1999, he emerged the first presi­dential standard bearer of the then All Peoples Party (APP), now All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP. He was the Nation­al Chairman of ANPP.

He has conducted research successfully into various Chemi­cal Engineering and written many books and published journals. He is a member of the ancient and noble order of the Knights of St. John International, KSJ.

ACHIEVEMENTS

While in UC Berkeley, Onu was the President of the African Students Union; member, Graduate Assembly of the University of California, Berkeley and President of the Nigerian Association of Northern California, Inc.

As governor of then Abia State, Onu was honoured with the Governor of the Year (1992) award and also the Star Governor Award. He was also the National Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). He was the first Chairman, Conference of Nigerian elected Governors.

Dr. Onu is a COREN Registered Engineer, Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers and the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

Dr. Osagie Ehanire

17. Dr. Osagie E. Ehanire

From Edo State, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, is described as an outstanding consultant surgeon and specialist in Anaesthesiology, General Surgery and Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Danjuma Foundation.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Dr. Osagie E. Ehanire holds an (MD) of college of Medicine, Ludwig Maximillians University, Munich. He also holds post graduate Diplomas from the Teaching Hospital of the University of Düsseldorf and Essen, Germany in the areas of Anaesthesiology, General Surgery, and Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

Dr. Osagie has served on various medical Boards both within and outside Nigeria.

He was Senior Registrar, Clinical Instructor, University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Member of the old Bendel and Edo States Hospital Management Board, Consultant Surgeon, Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, Clinical Course instructor, Fracture Internal Fixation course, BG Accident Hospital, Duisburg, Germany.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Dr Osagie E. Ehanire was the Edo State Coordinator of General Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation.

He co-authored the orthopaedic book “The severely injured limb” edited By John Ackroyd.

Rotimi Amaechi

18. Rotimi Amaechi

Named Rotimi because his father wanted him to be a lawyer like late legal icon, Chief FRA Williams, SAN, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi was a perpetual thorn in the flesh of the ruling party in the run-up to the 2015 elections.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Amaechi started his educational life at St. Theresa’s Primary school from 1970 to 1976, where he passed his first school leaving certificate, after which he proceeded to Government Secondary School Okolobiri in 1977, finishing and earning his West African School Certificate in 1982. He then went to the University of Port Harcourt in 1983, where he graduated with an honours degree in English Studies and Literature in 1987.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

While in the University of Port Harcourt, Amaechi participated actively in student union politics, especially in the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS) of which he was President, and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

On completion of his National Youth Service in 1988, he joined the services of Pamo Clinics and Hospital ltd., owned by the former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili where he worked as Public Relations officer until 1992 when he joined partisan politics emerging as the Secretary of the National Republican Convention in Ikwerre Local Government Area.

From 1992 -1994, he was Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor of Rivers State and also a member of the Board of Directors of West Africa Glass Industry as well as Risonpalm Nigeria Limited.

On resumption of political activities in 1996, he joined the Democratic Party of Nigeria (DPN) emerging as the State Secretary of the Party’s Caretaker Committee. He held this position until the political development was halted following the death of General Abacha. In 1999, General Abdulsalam Abubakar made true his promise of handing over power to an elected civilian government.

In 1999, he contested and won election into the Rivers State House of Assembly.He was subsequently elected as the Speaker of the House of Assembly. Amaechi was elected the Chairman of Nigeria’s Conference of Speakers of State Assemblies. He was re-elected into the State House of Assembly in May 2003 and was also re-elected as the Speaker

He contested and won the People’s Democratic Party primary for Rivers State Governor in 2007. He became Governor on 26 October 2007, after the Supreme Court pronounced him the rightful candidate of the PDP and winner of the April 2007 Governorship election in Rivers State.

He was re-elected for a second term of four years in April 2011.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Chibuike Amaechi holds the National honour of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), is a Christian Catholic and a knight of St Johns.

Amaechi was also the Director-general of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Presidential Campaign.

Udoma Udo Udoma

19. Senator Udoma Udo Udoma

A lawyer and senior advocate of Nigeria who resigned his membership of the PDP a few weeks ago. He was a-two term senator in the Nigerian Senate, representing Akwa Ibom State.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Mr. Udoma holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Jurisprudence in 1976, a Bachelors of Civil Laws Degree and a Masters of Arts in 1977 from St. Catherine’s College, Oxford University.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

Mr. Udoma as the first Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission in 1991-1992 and is the part time Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He has also served the Nation in other roles such as Special Adviser to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources from 1993 to March 1994.

Mr. Udoma Udo Udoma, CON, is a Senior Partner of Udo-Udoma & Belo Osagie. He was also Chairman of UAC of Nigeria Plc January 2, 2010. He has been Chairman of the Presidential Committee Waivers, Incentives and Concessions since 2007. Mr. Udoma specializes in advising on Nigerian investment laws and the investment environment generally, particularly in the petroleum, energy and natural resources sectors; advising Nigerian and international companies on company law, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and the raising of financing in the capital and money markets, as well as on major construction and engineering contracts.

Mr. Udoma has been Chairman of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc since February 2013 and its Director since November 27, 2012. He served as Vice Chairman of Linkage Assurance Plc and serves as its Director. He has been a Director of Unilever Nigeria Plc since January 1, 2008 and UAC of Nigeria Plc since 1995. He serves as a Director of First Hydrocarbon Nigeria Limited. He served as Director of First Hydrocarbon Nigeria Limited.

A two-term senator, Udoma Udo- Udoma represented Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District on the platform of the PDP between 1999 and 2007. He has also been a two-term member of the Nigerian Senate from 1999-2007 where he served variously as Chief Whip, Chairman of the Committee on National Planning, Revenue Mobilisation and Poverty Alleviation and Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Public Accounts, Judiciary, Banking and Currency, Science and Technology, Privatisation and Drug and Narcotics during his two terms in the Senate.

He also became Chief Whip of the Senate in 2004. A lawyer, Udoma has been involved in a plethora of general corporate transactions, and has developed particular specialisations in oil and gas, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions.

He has served on several national committees and as the non-executive Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He also served as the chairman of the task force that was setup to prepare a draft of the Petroleum Industry Bill.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Senator Udoma Udo Udoma is an Inaugural member of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, he is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association as well as the International Bar Association.

Solomon Dalong

20. Solomon Dalong

Said to have made the President’s list based on the strength of his credibility and personal recognition, Solomon Dalong is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Jos.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Dalong had his primary school education at LEA Primary School Sabon Gida from 1971 to 1977. He then proceeded to Government College Keffi, currently in Nasarawa State, for his secondary school education.

In 1991 while at the Nigerian Prisons Service, he enrolled to study Law at the University of Jos, having joined the Prisons Service in the early 80s as a Prison Assistant. In 2000, he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Abuja and was called to the Bar in 2001.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

Dalong rose from the ranks to become Assistant Inspector of Prisons and after completing his training as an attorney, he was moved to the legal department of prisons where he served as Legal Officer II in the prisons headquarters prior to his retirement.

Solomon Dalong took up a job as Personal Assistant to the late Chief Solomon Lar. He was then appointed Adviser Emeritus to President Olusegun Obasanjo. This job lasted till 2003. In 2004, he took up an appointment with the Faculty of Law, University of Jos, as a lecturer.

In 2005, Dalong combined his job as a lecturer and study while pursuing a post-graduate degree in Law. His LLM programme successfully ended in 2007 and he was appointed Chairman of Langtang South Local Government Area the same year. His tenure as council chairman ended in May 2008. He then returned to the University of Jos. He made an attempt at representing Langtang North and South at the National Assembly but lost.

ACHIEVEMENTS

As a lecturer, he has had the opportunity of attending leadership trainings, courtesy of international human rights organisations.

Dalong who is popularly referred to as ‘Igbarman Otarok’(thunder of Tarok nation’) by his people.

21. Suleiman Adamu

A civil engineer, he hails from Jigawa State and was the wiinner of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) prize for the Best Final Year Student in Civil Engineering in 1984.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Adamu graduated from Ahmadu bello University in 1984, winning the NPA Prize as the best graduating student. Twenty years after, he bagged M. Sc. (Project Management) University . of Reading, UK.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

Suleiman Adamu boasts of several years professional experience 7 of which were gained in the public sector. He has been in the consulting industry since 1989. He Co-founded Integrated Engineering Associates (IEA) in 1987, a leading firm of civil/structural, electrical, mechanical and environmental engineering consultancy based in Kaduna, Nigeria. He has also been involved in the planning, supervision and management of several building and civil engineering projects in Nigeria, mainly office/commercial structures, roads and water supply schemes.

In the past few years, the scope of his experience has been further widened, following his secondment as Principal Consultant with Afri-Projects Consortium, Management Consultants to the Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund, where he was actively involved in the planning and preparation of several national infrastructural projects in the health, education, transportation, agriculture, water resources and energy sectors.

At implementation stage he served as Project Manager on several projects, notably under the PTF Urban/Semi-Urban, Regional and Rural Water Supply Programmes, National Farm Power Machinery Rehabilitation Programme and National Waterways Development Project (Dredging of River Niger).

ACHIEVEMENTS

Suleiman Adamu was the winner, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) prize for the Best Final Year Student in Civil Engineering, 1984. He is at present the Vice-president of ACEN, Association of Consulting Engineers in Nigeria.
