DormCo, a company operating out of Cheektowaga, NY, specializes in everything pertaining to a college dorm room. They have all of the essentials, whether it be decor, appliances, study materials or space saving items. The best part? DormCo offers all of their college dorm room products at the lowest prices. They strive to make the decoration and furnishing of your college dorm room a fun and not-so-exhausting project. DormCo even has a "Top Ten" list for the reasons that you should be shopping with them before you go off to college or before you send your child or relative off. They are: to save time (no more shopping around, get everything you need in one place), to save money (right now shipping is just $2.95 for your WHOLE order), confidence (everything you see is always available), selection (if you don't want your dorm room to look like a copy of everyone else's), exclusive (many of their products are just found on their website), service (great customer service representatives), knowledge (they know how to help you), shipping (express options with low prices), clean (you won't find beer pong tables here - DormCo wants you to focus on studying), and people (DormCo isn't a big company that doesn't care).

I wish I had had one of these "College Cozy Sofas" when I was in college! This is adorable.

DormCo was generous enough to offer me a list of products to choose from for a review, as part of my Decoration Challenge series. It was really hard to narrow down the selection, but when I saw the Microfiber Dorm Rug, I knew that that would be the best fit for my new apartment.

I received the Microfiber Dorm Rug in mint, in the 3' x 5' size. The Microfiber Dorm Rug also comes in the following variety of colors: black, lavender, aqua, steele gray, cherry pink, emerald spring green, and navy blue. Besides the 3' x 5' size, you can order the Microfiber Dorm Rug in 4' x 6' (adding an extra $9.25), 5' x 8' (adding an extra $20.00), or 6' x 9' (adding an extra $33.50). The DormCo website recommends the following sizes for the following spaces: 3' x 5' for covering one specific area, such as in front of your television, 4' x 6' as a centered carpet in your dorm room, 5' x 8' for covering most of the floor without having to go under furniture (their most popular size option), or 6' x 9' for taking up all of the open space in your dorm room (I wouldn't suggest this if you have roommates shoved into a double or a triple unless you ask them first (;). The list price for the Microfiber Dorm Rug is $34.49, but DormCo sells it for $22.58 -- that's a savings of $11.91! Here are the features of the rug, as per the DormCo website:

Made of soft to the touch microfiber

Anti-slip bottom - Quality tapered construction

Vacuum Friendly and Machine Washable

Sized to fit dorm rooms (available in 4 sizes)

Here are pictures of my DormCo Microfiber Dorm Rug and how I utilized it. Isn't it CUTE?

When I saw the color of the DormCo Microfiber Dorm Rug, I knew just where I would put it. My living room is taking on a red, black, and white color scheme, my bathroom is red and black, and my spare bedroom and bedroom have yet to be decided. My little "nook in the wall", a small space that has become my resident study area, is becoming a lot of fun to decorate. My mother already helped me create a black and white damask floor pillow for the room, and I had another large black floor pillow. The room is so small that it only has one window and space for a desk and a chair. I decided to make it a mostly "sitting" room, so I can lounge by the low window and be comfortable studying with a lot of natural light. The problem? This room has a tan colored carpet, which didn't really go with my whole color scheme idea. I know that I can't paint the walls (since I am only renting the apartment), but I could change the color of the floor by simply covering it with my own rug!

The DormCo Microfiber Dorm Rug fit PERFECTLY in my study space, and that's why I knew it was ideal. I already had told my mother that I was going with black, white, and a green or blue color, so mint will be my third color, as decided by this rug. I like that it takes up most of the room, except under the desk, which is nice, because that way I don't have to move the desk every time I want to move the rug. I think the rug really adds to the room and makes it pop. The color is definitely my style, and it looks very modern and chic. The rug, as you can tell from the pictures, is extremely soft. I wanted my study space to be comfortable, so having the soft rug under my feet is a great touch. I will just have to be careful that I don't lay down and fall asleep while I am supposed to be studying. Although is is labeled a "Dorm Rug", I think that this rug works great in an apartment. I am going to school, so I am only here for two years -- we are on a tight budget, and we still enjoy the look and convenience of many of the "college" decor items. So even if you are not heading off to college, don't count this rug out. It is adorable, stylish, and feels great to walk on. You don't have to worry about getting it dirty, because you can wash it. It is a great price, and it comes in so many colors and sizes that you could really furnish any apartment or dorm room, whether you are male or female. I think that the 3' x 5' size is great for a small space such as my study nook, in hallways, or in front of your bed as a transition from your bed to a less comfortable flooring. I also really like that you can move around on the rug quite a bit without it shifting, because of the anti-slip underside. If you are looking for a deal on a rug, the Microfiber Dorm Rug is the way to go -- grab two or three to furnish your apartment!
