My most Essential Summer Essentials are always going to be my favorite types of products- makeup. During the summer time, trends and your skin’s needs change quite a bit and that’s why I love to refresh my makeup collection and routine. From bronze looks and powder, light coverage foundation, we found some seriously envy worthy summer makeup items!
Up first is a summer classic. It just wouldn’t be fun in the sun without a bronzer. We opted for the best of the best and tried out Giella‘s custom blended cosmetics. We picked out a medium bronzer with bronze shimmer. Nothing could be more “beach bunny”.
The shade ended up being absolutely gorgeous! This would look good on so many skin tones. I love the subtle bronze shimmer and the smooth as silk formula. I was also really surprised at how much product you actually get in one container. This bronzer will last me all summer and likely into the fall and winter where it would make a lovely warm brown shadow or contour color. Right off the bat, I loved the idea of Giella, but after seeing the finished product, I have to say, I’ll certainly be back for more!
One of the most summer ready collections I’ve seen this summer comes from the #1 Selling cosmetic line in all of France, Yves Rocher\. Their Retropical line left no stone unturned when it came to pumped up colors and fragrance. From lipgloss and blue mascara to affordable eyeshadow trios, I loved it all but there were certainly some favorites.
I bounce back and fourth between wearing liner and passing on the stuff, but I’ve addicted to this double ended one from this new collection. Whether I wear them together or on their own, these colors pop and the pigment is long lasting and fairly sweat/water resistant too!
Both shades of the lipglosses in this collection are smooth, pigmented.
BUT the real star for me is the Retropical perfume. This fun, light scent is super wearable, feminine and just perfect for the summer!
When I’m not wearing my Retropical perfume, my new summer favorite is hands down Vintage Bloom by Jessica Simpson. Lucky for my, my favorite place to shop fragrances, FragranceNet.com has this scent and many more and they ALWAYS have the best price around!
This sweet, romantic scent is absolutely heavenly. My husband is not a fan of 80% of the perfumes in my collection but when I wear this, he often asks me what it is. It’s light and fresh and goes great at night or for day time wear as well.
In the Texas heat, I’m always worried about two things: sweating off my entire face and clogging up my pores with heavy makeup. (because your pores open up when you get hot and sweat) That’s why I like to switch over to a mineral makeup. They’re more pure and less likely to fade with sweat OR get down and clog your pores. Crisis averted! One great kit I recently discovered is from Midnight Velvet. This travel kit has everything you’ll need: powder foundation, the super soft brush, blusher, lipstick and even a mineral mist to keep your skin looking refreshed throughout the day. It all comes in a cute makeup case too!
The lipstick included in the kit was one of my favorites. It was pigmented and SO creamy.
Since my face is covered, I depend on my favorite affordable eyeshadow brand for the other part of my look. BH Cosmetics recently released some summer destination themed palettes and I have to say, they are to die for!
The Malibu collection is full of bright, fun colors and natural tones blush, highlight and bronzer colors. Each of these colors really pop and go on super smooth. I love having all these options right at my fingertips in a palette that is just ready to fold up and go.
I also scoped out some double ended travel brushes. With a price tag of only $11, I wasn’t expecting too much from these but I was seriously wowed when they arrived. These are some of the softest brushes in my collection (as far as synthetic brushes go), they’re cute and you can achieve nearly any look with these 4 brushes only. It’s a great buy!
I recently had the honor of trying a new line of brushes (to me) by adesign. I tried 3 of their Dual Fiber face brushes and soon found that these were the perfect brushes to getting an air brushed, no-makeup look for all my summer outtings.
My favorites were the Finishing Concealer, Finishing Foundation and Finishing Contour. These brushes make blending and applying liquids and creams a breeze. I love the feel of the handle and the brush heads on my skin.Right now, these are my go to brushes.
Must have is only one way to describe Gleam by Melanie Mills. This body radiance is MADE for the summer sun and perfect for that all year glow. I’ve been using this shimmering body color for over a year now whenever I have a special night out. Melanie Mills is famous for her body radiance and it’s such a unique products that if you’ve yet to try this one, you’ve got to order a tube for yourself.
I also tried another color of her Lip Radiance line. This stunning pink color is called Pop my Cork. I LOVE this color and it looks so cute with summer golds and turquoise. It’s pigmented but subtle enough to look like a natural pop of pink on the lips. The formula is creamy, not even the slightest bit sticky and lasts 2-3 hours.
