Promising Melbourne R&B songstress Martha Brown, producing music under the pseudonym Banoffee, has released her own spin on the pop ballad ‘Bleeding Love‘, originally performed by British artist Leona Lewis. A tune perhaps not familiar to the Banoffee faithful, her reworking shifts the beat into something closer to trip hop, while removing the cringe-worthy undertones of the original.

The cover does maintain a heavy focus on the vocals with Banoffee going for an auto-tuned approach accompanied by a backing of warped male vocals. Perhaps, on future releases, it would be nice to hear Brown’s voice unedited and raw, as it is clear that she bears vocals that are both powerful and diverse, a rare talent. This release, although in her words “just a lil homemade cover”, is another step forward for this bright spark who seemingly can do no wrong. Banoffee is leaving many eager for more.
