I know school has started for most of America…all except my kids! Two of my kids start back after Labor Day, that is just way too long, they are so bored and ready to head back! I have a few cool back to school products to help get your kids off to a great start this school year. TerraCycle
TerraCycle, a upcycling and recycling company, makes eco-friendly products from trash items that are normally non-recyclable, including Capri Sun juice pouches, Frito-Lay chip bags, and Mars candy wrappers. Many of the products could make great holiday gifts for crafty types who are also eco-minded. For example, TerraCycle has clocks and coasters made from vinyl records and circuit boards, as well as circuit board picture frames, boom box speakers made from candy wrappers, and brightly decorated flower pots.
The trash is collected by student groups at schools across the country. Groups, which are called “Brigades,” can collect trash from juice pouches to chip bags to computer keyboards. They sign up for free, and then send their trash in to TerraCycle for free as well. For every piece of trash that students send us, they receive two points. These points can be used to buy specific charity gifts, such as clean water, or converted to cash and donated to a non-profit or charity – including their school. Many students raise money for their extracurricular activity groups, or to buy new, energy friendly electronics for their school.
This backpack is on the smaller side, 10″ wide x 13″ tall x 5″ deep so I would say that it would be better suited for younger kids that do not have to carry lots of heavy books. The straps and the back of the pack is covered in wrappers from Clif Kid Z bars, a very unique backpack indeed!

French Toast Uniforms
I have worked on reviews for French Toast several times in the past and I keep coming back to them year after year. I love their quality and the great prices. Our package arrived all nicely wrapped and tucked inside a cinch sack that can be used for gym class or will come in handy for overnights.
This year, I went with one of their new shirts the Mocked Layered Pique Polo. It just looks like there is an undershirt on underneath that sticks out of the sleeves and top of the polo. Sneaky. My son also picked out a zipper front sweater, this will be nice for the fall weather which will be here in no time. You know French Toast carries clothing, but did you know that they also carry accessories like ties, socks and backpacks? While the backpack selection is pretty slim, my son managed to pick out a camo backpack (if you have read any of my clothing reviews you know my sons fascination with camo!) This backpack is a decent size for him and has a front zippered pocket.
On the French Toast website, you can shop your uniform by your school, get your school logo embroidered (if the school has set that option up) even if they haven’t it is a pretty easy process and even set up a school fundraising program.

Workman Publishing: Star Wars Workbooks
If your boys are like mine, getting them to actually sit and practice “schoolwork” is a challenge, especially during the summer. I wish these had come out years ago…what boy doesn’t like Star Wars?
