Alexandra Palace has been lighting up London’s skyline with its epic fireworks displays for many years, and this year’s installment wil be even bigger and better. On 4 and 5 November, they’re planning a two-day celebration with a German beer festival, a Day of the Dead parade, and two nights of superb firework displays. Adults £11, kids £8.50. Saturday 5 November
Stoke Newington will hold a spectacular display of sparkling fireworks, shooting across the dark sky like glitter shot out of cannons. Dubbed a ‘pyromusical’, artistic displays that explode across the sky and soundtrack classics will combine to bring you an evening of festive fun. A children’s fun fair, street performers, a multitude of street food vendors and a creative themed firework show will all feature, lighting up the sky and the atmosphere. The fireworks begin at 7pm followed by a huge bonfire. Tickets are £2.50 for children and £8.50 for adults.

Saturday 5 November
This one is perfect for people who want to dance into the small hours, as there’s a late-night disco in the Clubhouse with music from DJ Disco Danger after the fireworks. There is a Guy competition (all entries welcome), hot mulled wine, a BBQ with meat from Seals, and a stall of homemade cakes and goodies from the Guides. More than 2,500 people attended last year, and seeing the fireworks and bonfire light up along the River Thames is really quite special. A really fantastic place to go an watch the fireworks fill the sky with family and friends is Richmond Athletic ground on 6 November. It promises another sell out event this year to delight people of all ages. Plus, not only do they have a fireworks show, but they also have live entertainment acts, competitions and a funfair for the little one’s amusement. Entertainment will start from 5:30pm and the firework show begins at 7pm. Tickets for children are £5 with adult entry going at £10

Roehampton Club is holding a firework display on 4 November, so that you can celebrate the end of the week instyle. members who attend the mixed sports club will get discounted tickets, although non-members are also welcome. Ravenscourt park’s annual firework and bonfire display is back to commemorate the classic British celebratory festival. An array of food and drink stands will be on hand to cater to everyone’s tastes while crowds quickly gather for the traditional bonfire lighting and two fireworks shows. This free event ar St. Barnabas Church is a much milder affair, but is perfect for the little ones who are celebrating Guy Fawkes Night for the first time as it’s tailored for little ears and eyes. Watch the burning of the bonfire on the 5th while trying to write your name out with sparklers before they burn out. It’s quieter, free, and a family-fuelled event here.




SOUTH EAST LONDON

The O2 Arena, SE10

See the night sky’s own display of twinkling starry lights from the top of the O2, after an evening climb up the dome. Experience panoramic views of the night sky as thousands of luminous stars shine overhead. You may even bag the best viewing seats in the city if you are still up there when the firework displays all over London begin. Interestingly, the O2 is built upon an old gunpowder depot that supplied the British navy during the world wars. Scale the O2 at night for just £35.

For privacy, make your way up to the Royal Observatory to view the fireworks from afar, surrounded by grand historical arches, giving you a premium viewing spot, up so high you can see the fireworks in all their glory. Before heading up the hill, pass by the stunning Old Royal Navy College just as the sun is setting to catch it illuminated by a reddish, purple sky, before night falls.

With over 100,000 people attending Blackheath Common’s spectacular display every year, there is never a lack of buzz or community spirit. A funfair kicks off at midday, before the food and drink stalls open at 5pm and the much anticipated fireworks display starts at 8pm. Hosted by Lewisham Council, entry is free for this dazzling display of lights against a backdrop of historic buildings.

Putting a spin on things, The Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens are holding a Fire Festival on 29 October, with a nod to Guy Fawkes. This year’s theme is ‘The Music of Orpheus’, with exciting performances lined up from dancers, fire performers, poets, musicians and skilled pyrotechnics in front of a huge red, roaring bonfire. Mulled wine and chestnuts will also be on offer.

The 13-year-old Southwark Park fireworks have been dubbed as one of the best displays in London. Being so popular, although entry is free, this year’s events will be ticketed, with first dibs going to local residents before going on general release. Winter home comforst snacks, festive drinks and entertainment will all be on offer from 5pm-8pm, when the luminous display will begin.

Another London favourite, this Crystal Palace show is one of the longest running displays in the city. The evening will start at 7pm with a magical starry event for little ones, before the stand out firework performance of the night kicks off at 8pm. Refreshments and tasty treats will be available throughout, along with a huge bonfire that will be kept going until the end to keep everyone warm. Ticket prices start from £5.60.

Hosting their annual fireworks in their recreational grounds, gates will open at 5pm with a gargantuan bonfire being lit at 6:30pm. The explosive fireworks will commence at 7pm, with a bar and barbeque also featuring on the night. Tall orange flames will blume from the bonfire in true Guy Fawkes style, fun for all the family. WEST LONDON

The Roof Gardens, W8
Saturday 5 November

The Roof Gardens will be add a little bit of glam to Guy Fawkes this year with their Guy Fawkes Night party on 5 November. Just a short walk from Notting Hill Gate Station, doors open at 7pm for a cocktail and barbeque party amongst the gorgeous surroundings, before the evening kicks off with a special fireworks up close display at 11:45pm. This one is a great event ot take the children to, as it’s free. The popular fireworks display at Brent Park has, this year, moved to Wembley Park. Expect vibrant street entertainment from a number of performers, street food and fireworks set to a top-secret soundtrack at 6:30pm. They do ask that you kindly remember not to bring pets, your own alcohol or fireworks.

Saturday 5 November
The Guy Fawkes Night at Cleveland Square will involve all the usual trimmings. The enormous bonfire will be on full display with fireworks taking place at 7:15pm on 5 November. Warm yourselves up with a few rounds of mulled wine. Tickets will be sold by Cleveland Arms Pub. £5 for kids and £10 for adults.

This one is less of a rigidly organised event, but a perfect way to celebrate is to head to the infamous viewing point at Primrose Hill and watch the skyline of London light up around you. It means that you don’t need to spend a penny, but you still get all the benefits of the fiery spectacle. You could probably find fireworks on Friday, Saturday and even Sunday.
