Thursday 25 August is Mr Hyde’s fourth National Burger Day and Street Feast is celebrating by throwing its biggest burger bash to date. Hosted for the first time at Hawker House, Canada Water, 18 of the city’s biggest burger heroes meet 10 brilliant bars with two All-American burger desserts, London’s Best Chips (head to Honest Burgers’ one stop chip shop for their Rosemary Salted Chips), Burger Piñatas and a Pickle Eating Contest thrown in on the side. It’s eight hours of burgers, booze and beats with sensational sliders from Bleecker St., B.O.B’s Lobster, Mother Flipper, Smokestak, Mac & Wild, Bill or Beak, a jazzy collaboration in Up In My Grill vs. Prawnography and plenty more. Miyako has given the classic burger-and-bun a Japanese-inspired makeover replacing traditional bread buns with sushi rice. Hampshire based ice cream makers Jude’s ice cream has created an ice cream burger. Each burger will be made using the latest flavour to join the Jude’s ice cream family, Brown Butter Pecan and a strawberry ‘patty’ sandwiched between a toasted brioche bun and topped with a sprinkling of nuts to create a hot-cold, sweet summer sensation. The team behind HotBox launched a new restaurant, Chuck Burger, on Commercial Street in July 2016. Having served its signature burgers and ‘almost’ award-winning wings from a converted Chevy Step Van at Street Feast’s Hawker House since October 2015, Chuck Burger is now a permanent fixture in east London. Inspired by founder Basit Nasim’s travels across America, the menu has been developed over time, guided by his favourite recipes from across the pond but using the freshest British ingredients. The Spitalfields restaurant will feature several favourites and brand new exclusive dishes. As well as the classic cheeseburger and bacon cheeseburger will be Chuck’s standout signature spicy Devil Burger, a ground 28-day aged chuck steak patty topped with charred jalapenos, American cheese, grilled red onions, sriracha mayo, and topped with a green jalapeno sauce.

The Slider Decider, Broadgate Circle
Patties are being prepped and brioche baked – battle is about to commence for London’s tastiest tournament, The Slider Decider. From midday on Saturday 10 September 2016, some of the UK’s most talented and creative chefs will gather at foodie-hub Broadgate Circle to showcase their slider skills and discover who deserves the ultimate title of Slider Decider Champion 2016. Celebrate all things Slider as the chefs rotate on a number of slider stations around the circle selling their unique creations hot off the KamadoJoe grills. Guests will be able to buy books of five slider tokens for £15 (all sliders priced at just £3 each), then once the winner has been crowned, continue the festival spirit and grab a drink from one of the outside bars whilst live music plays into the night. Hosted by journalist and food writer Joe Warwick, all finalists will fight it out in front of food fans from across the capital and a stellar line-up of judges including Alexi Duggins, Editor at Large of Time Out, Jamie Klingler, Founder of National Burger Day and Mike Gibson, Associate Editor of Foodism.
