When it comes to my fundraising efforts for the Dolphins Cycling Challenge it could be said I'm overzealous or pushy. Wrong. Just passionate. Many of the "old guard" will relate to this. When I was young I could count on Jerry Lewis giving it his all to raise money during his Muscular Dystrophy Labor Day Telethon. I mean this guy was relentless,...he wouldn't stop and every year he made it his mission to raise more money than he did the year before. So to that end, I will not ease up until the day of the event. And true enough I have eclipsed last years efforts, but well short of my goal of $10,000. Now I have conceded that I will not reach that goal, but I will NOT quite trying,.....ever ! I owe that much to a loved one lost, so I push on.........

Now lets get this party started !!!

Yeah,....I let myself go after last year. Go right to 240 pounds that is,.....

Not a good look for me at all.

This Summer while in Dallas I decided to make a change. A better diet, along with some serious training. I can tell you that I have spend hours & hours on that bike and dropped 30 LBS in the process. Bummer is,....I've been home two months and haven't lost a pound,......Mom just loves keeps all my favorites supplied,........no stockpiled. Oh well,...maybe I can shake 10 more before the ride. 40 year anniversary,....40 LBS lighter. I like the concept. "'>

Now it is a must having a solid playlist to get one through that kind of training. Something to inspire and motivate. I asked each of you for $1 for the cause. The 1st to answer the call,.......PotM. I wish the rest of you would follow his lead. Maybe this will help motivate you like it did me.

Its a fact,...you don't have to be a rock star, to be a rock star !!!

On Monday we'll travel to our home for the next 7 nights, a hotel 2 miles from Met Life Stadium and just across the river from NYC. This will be our 3rd trip there for a game before ultimately landing in Florida. "'>

And cancer,....she's a bitch !!! Robbed us of so many. "'>

One half of The Ramones !? One third of The Beastie Boys !!?? Fuck cancer !!

Lots of hours on that bike gives one plenty of time to reflect. I've talked to lots of people about the DCC, and by doing so I've many stories of hope, joy, & sadness. Music can be a funny thing. And certain songs at certain times have had me sobbing heavily while on the open road more than once.

Friday evening was special. You see I've been a bit frazzled as of late. Trying to tie up all my loose ends while trying to pack for the move, working, organizing my NYC trip ( attractions and tailgate/game), and to top it all off we just needed a last minute $1000 repair o the truck. Perfect timing. So I was in need of a bit of a pick-me-up. That's when I got a donation of $286 and a message that read : Wanted to make sure you got above the 4K mark, best of luck !

Yup,...dry those tears and get back in the game. I went right to work today and got another 5 people to kick in $1 each, and came home to find that another of my Mom's friends kicked in another $20.

I mentioned the Team uniform and I dabbled with the idea of going straight up Ohio. "'>

It just felt way to squeaky clean. While I love this jersey and the same goes for blue accessories,....it just didn't have any rock 'n roll about it. So,...while training,....and rocking out, I just had a great idea. Go big. Go over the top.

Slowly, piece by piece, my idea materialized. First came the upgrades to the bike. A new set of orange tires, orange bar tape, & aqua water bottle cages. The latter had to be custom painted by yours truly. Then came the new tights, gloves, and glasses. I am now ready to rock !

I trained solo, rarely riding with a group to receive the benefits of drafting. Yet, when I ride I am never alone. I have a smaller army of supports the fuels my fire.

So,....without further ado,....I give you the Team OFF4L 2012 uniform ! Enjoy !!! "'>

Ride it like you stole it ! And until next time as the adventure continues in NY,....

Please,...anything helps,...
