There could be no better theme than a Fire and Ice Matsuri ( 祭 the Japanese word for a festival or holiday) to launch Tokyo Tokyo’s latest innovation: the Cheese Tonkatsu and Snow Ice.

The event was held last week at the Tokyo Tokyo Net Lima branch at BGC. It was my first time at that branch and I loved how they decorated the store with red and white Japanese lanterns to represent fire and ice. There were also bird and snowflakes origami that went with the lanterns. The store really looked festive!

To start off the event, we were given some Nori-Wasabi Fries and their well-loved California Maki. I love how well-seasoned the Nori- Wasabi Fries are!

Tokyo Tokyo Cheese Tonkatsu

I’m sure you’re all familiar with Tokyo Tokyo’s Pork Tonkatsu. When I was younger, I used to be crazy with it for quite sometime before I fell in-love with the Beef Misono…. but that’s another story.  This month, they are giving the Pork Tonkatsu which we all love with a creamy, cheesy twist!

According to Harvie Sering, Product Manager for Tokyo Tokyo, “Tokyo Tokyo’s Pork Tonkatsu Bento is a big favorite with a lot of our customers. This time around we’ve made it even better with a yummy cheese filling and thicker, juicier pork slices. Diners get the same quality they can find at any specialty Tonkatsu restaurant, but at a really affordable price.”

The Cheese Tonkatsu Bento (₱145) includes a side dish of fresh cabbage strips dressed in a special roasted sesame dressing and all the rice you can eat. Talk about value for your money!

You can also get this Cheese Tonkatsu Bento meal complete with Miso Soup, Red Iced Tea, and a special dessert for ₱195.

Did I love the Cheese Tonkatsu Bento? Yes! Who wouldn’t? Creamy cheese oozes out of the breading as I slice it with my spoon. I heard some people say that you don’t need the tonkatsu sauce anymore because the cheese already serves as the sauce but I’m a sauce person. I love overloading it with sauce!

Tokyo Tokyo’s Snow Ice

Because Summer is just around the corner, Tokyo Tokyo thought it’s best to welcome the  heat with some cool concoctions. Meet Tokyo Tokyo’s Snow Ice, the brand’s new year-round dessert and the perfect way to indulge and chase away the summer heat.

Tokyo Tokyo Halo- Halo Snow Ice

Based on a classic Japanese festival offering, the Kakigori, a shaved ice delicacy mixed with various flavored syrups, Tokyo Tokyo’s Snow Ice packs on a whole lot more. It also puts a twist on other popular Filipino iced desserts, such as the Halo-Halo.

This is made up of Vanilla-flavored shaved ice and then drizzled with sweetened milk. I love shaved ice and snow cones so this already got my two thumbs up.

Halo-Halo (₱79) is a twist on the timeless Filipino dessert with lavish servings of ube, nata, leche flan, and a sprinkle of crunchy cornflakes.

Tokyo Tokyo Choco Sensation Snow Ice

Choco Sensation (₱79) features yummy brownies chunks with sweet mini marshmallows and a generous helping of hot fudge sauce.

Tokyo Tokyo Mango Peach Medley Snow Ice

Mango Peach Medley (₱79) goes tropical with juicy slices of tangy peach and tart mango for a true taste explosion. This is my fvaorite among the three flavor because the tartness of the fruit balances out the sweetness of the snow ice and the milk drizzle.

Tokyo Tokyo’s Snow Ice will be available in the following stores by March 2014: Net Lima Fort, Greenhills, Ali Mall, SM North EDSA Annex, Robinsons Metro East, SM Manila, SM Dasmarinas, SM Southmall, Trinoma, People Support Center, SM Megamall, Festival Mall, and Market Market.

Of course, Tokyo Tokyo endorser Daniel Matsunaga and the other Kaya F.C. players were also there that afternoon.
