You may have been seen a few posts from me by now on the psychic and paranormal topics, and I have realized while I have met and know some of you locally, I haven’t introduced myself properly online for those following Pandora Society posts.

I initially found the Pandora Society, articles, and associated events through a web search, and so very happy I did.

My first exposure to Steampunk as a term overall was from the television series Face/Off, which they did themed challenge for the upcoming at the time game Dishonored, which also turned out to one of my personal favorite video games of all time. One of my earliest literature exposures was The Difference Engine, William Gibson / Bruce Sterling. At the time of this post, I’m reading R.S. Belcher’s Nightwise. I got turned onto R.S. Belcher through Six Gun Tarot and Shotgun Arcana novels.

I’ve read tarot and had interest in magick/paranormal more of my life, than well , not. I began studying more intensely while deployed as a U.S. Army communications specialist in Kuwait in 2001.  Last year I began reading tarot more publicly as I founded my business Arcana Advising. My first Pandora Society event I began doing readings at was the Voodoo Carnival Mardi Gras Masquerade.  Additionally I make it a point to attend events without any vending, just socially to talk , dress up, game, attend concerts, and listen to music / dance.

Here is a photo of my wife and I.

Aside from my photo, you can recognize me by my derby with the infinity symbol centered on it, and leather case which I use for my cards (It was crafted by Brett Daly of Fiendish Wear / Designs https://www.etsy.com/shop/FiendishWear).

I’ve done a couple charity fundraising events with Airship Ashanti such as the NAMI walk, and Fleet of Fleece/Project Linus . I’ve also volunteered and donated time and gift certificates for fundraising for the Dragonfly Foundation and LifeCenter  charities.

I have a wide variety of interests, and open minded and looking for  new book, movie, music, or game suggestions.

At November’s  Pandoracon I will be sharing about 19th Century Fortune Telling. Last year, I was attending a “Renaissance Fair”, and for kicks, I was chatting with a tarot reader there. Yes, tarot did exist in the Renaissance, but no they did not have the Crowley Deck which the reader was using, as it wasn’t even available as cards until 1978! That buggered me. Since Steampunk is ‘relatively historically based around Victorian / 19th century era’, I thought I’d share a historically accurate baseline on fortune telling  as a practice, but also some thoughts on inclusion as story elements for the creative artists and writers among us.

I’m supporting House of Diamonds  Queen Ofeibea Loveless for Pandoracon 2016.

I am looking forward to getting to know you all more in person as well, and hope to see you at future NOIRs, Cincinnati Steampunk Salons, Pandoracon, and the International Steampunk Symposium.
