وخياليا بالنسبـة للذين كان ارادتهم دائمـاً تحت ارادة الشعب فظلوا حتي اخر لحظـة غير مصدقيـن لقدرتها علي ارغام المستعمر ودفعـه الي الرحيل والخروج الي الابد .

قبل الفاتح من سبتمبر عام 1969 مسيحي كانت سيادة البلاد ناقصة وإرادة الشعب مستباحة تتقاسمها القواعد العسكرية الأمريكية والبريطانية التي كانت آنذاك تجثم فوق الأراضي العربية الليبية .. إلى جانب قوة أخرى في ثوب مدني تضم جيشاً من بقايا الاستعمار الاستيطاني الإيطالي .. يمتلكون كل شئ له قيمة على الأرض الليبية ، وكما تقاسم هذا الثالوث الأثيم السيادة والسلطة في البلاد فقد تقاسموا أيضاً ثرواتـــــه واستباحوا حرماته كجزء من مغانم الحرب الكونية الثانية التي تحمّل شعبنا كثيراً من مآسيــــها وأوزارهــــا دون أن يكون له فيها ناقة ولا جمل ..وقد تحالف هؤلاء مع سلطة العهد المباد في مواجهة أبناء الشعب العربي الليبي الذي أحكموا حوله الطوق وحاولوا أن يسدوا أمامه منافذ المستقبل .. لقد كانت تلك القواعد تمتلك القرار .. وتحمي النظام العميل من غضبة الجماهيروبالمقابل .. كرس النظام الحاكم آنذاك جهوده لتبرير وجود القواعد دون أن يندى له جراء ذلك البهتان وتلك الأباطيل جبين .ولأن ثورة الفاتح من سبتمبر كانت مشروعاً مشرعآً للحرية .. بداية فوق الأرض الليبية وعموماً للإنسان في أي مكان .. فإن وعي الثوار لم يكشف فقط زيف المبررات والحجج التي كان يسوقها العهد المباد لتبرير وجود القوات والقواعد الأجنبية .. ولكن وعي الثورة كان يدرك أيضاً حقيقة الدور الذي كانت تلعبه تلك القوات والقواعد الأجنبية في حياة المجتمع وحقيقة تصادمها مع المصالح الأساسية للجماهير الشعبية.إن القوات والقواعد الأجنبية كانت تمثل الاحتلال المباشر لأجزاء غالية عزيزة من أرض الوطن .. وتقف حائلاً دون تحقيق أمل الإنسان في الحرية فوق الأرض العربية الليبية .. كما حالت دون تواصل الإنسان العربي في ليبيا مع أشقائه في الساحات العربية الأخرى .. وكانت دائماً عنصر تهديد مباشر للأمة العربية في صراعها ضد الاستعمار .
لقد كانت تلك القواعد تجسد التحالف السافر بين الاستعمار والرجعية في مواجهة الجماهير الشعبية .. في محاولة لمنعها من تحقيق غاياتها المشروعة في الحرية والسعادة وحتى يكون مشروع الحرية ممكناً كان لابد من تحرير الإرادة لكي يتم الاختيار الحر .. الذي قاد إلى تحرير المقدرات .. تمهيداً لحسن توظيفها في معارك البناء والتشييد .
لذلك كان الإجلاء على رأس سلم أولويات ثورة الفاتح من سبتمبر المجيدة.. والمهمة الأولى التي تصدرت جدول أعمالها وسبقت غيرها من المهام

Benghazi mosque, which was formerly a Catholic Cathedral:

History
6th century BCE: Founded by Greeks from the nearby settlement of Cyrene. The city is named Euseperides.
249: Euseperides is refounded by the Egyptians, and given the additional name Barneek (or Berenice), after the wife of the Egyptian pharaoh Ptolemy 3‘s wife. It became the most important city of Cyrenaica.
5th century CE: Barneek suffers great damage from invading Vandals.
642: Invasion and annexation by the Muslim Arabs. By this time, Barneek had become an insignificant village.
15th century: The city is named after Ibn Ghazi, a local holy man, and is in full called Bani Ghazi, “tribe of Ghazi.”
16th century: Invasion by the Ottomans, and Bani Ghazi is incorporated into the empire.
1711: Comes under regional control of Tripoli, when the city’s ruling Karamanli family relinquishes control.
1835: Comes under direct rule of Istanbul, and is generally neglected, and would eventually become the poorest region in the empire, without paved roads, telegraph or a decent harbour.
1858: Many of the inhabitants die from bubonic plague.
1874: A second attack of bubonic plague kills a large number of the inhabitants.
1911 October: Is occupied by Italy during the Turko-Italian War, together with most of the lands making up modern Libya. The region of Benghazi, called Cyrenaica, is granted the status of colony. A period of heavy repression starts, and Benghazi becomes a centre for Libyan resistance over the next 20 years, before Italian control is finally established.
1940-42: During World War 2, Benghazi is bombed more than 1,000 times by European forces.
1942 November: After changing hands 5 times, it comes under British control. They keep their control even after the end of the war.
1949: King Idris makes Benghazi capital of Barka, comprising the eastern Mediterranean coast of Libya.
1950′s: Libyan independence leads to many projects for the improvement of Benghazi’s infrastructure.
1986 April 17: Libya is bombed by USA.
1995 September: Libyan authorities clash down on Salafists, leading to the arrest of thousands of both Libyans and foreigners, especially Sudanese.

The covered market area of Suuq Jreed stretches for a good kilometre, beginning at the Freedom Square (see Old City) ending at Funduq Market. A few places it is still quite attractive, but the market’s main attraction is being totally at the service of Benghazi’s own population. Hence it is the real thing, the old surviving well into modern times.
