Remember when I pronounced myself a copy cat? In case you didn’t believe me, here’s photographic proof that I am indeed an imitating feline.
Many moons ago, and by many moons I mean several weeks, I pinned an image of Yasmin Sewell wearing an oversize pink sweater atop a white button down, slightly faded jeans, and white pumps. So naturally, I wore an oversize pink sweater atop a white button down, slightly faded jeans, and nude Ann Taylor booties that are frequently mistaken for Alaïa’s. Actually, that’s a lie. I first pinned the image, then made it my business to find an oversize pink sweater (obviously fast fashion knockoff tycoon, Zara, was my first and final destination), and then proceeded to imitate the look.
Aside from Yasmin wearing said look infinitely better than I ever will, there are a couple of things that make my rendition slightly different. For starters, I do not harbor a head of perfectly curled raven colored locks. Instead, as you’re all quite familiar with, I have more of a blonde mop that likes to give me a run for my money by rejecting products my hairdresser swears will give me Gisele Bündchen waves. Then there’s the difference in footwear. Though white pumps have been on my wish list since Carrie ruined hers by stepping in a pile of poop in Paris, I still haven’t purchased a pair. So instead I opted for the Alaïa-inspired Ann Taylor booties mentioned in the preceding paragraph. To make up for my lack of white pointy-toe heels, I added a white leather clutch with a giant size

safety pin functioning as its handle.
This certainly isn’t the first time I’ve copied a look I’ve found on Pinterest and it certainly won’t be the last. Street style wouldn’t be what it is today without the style hungry lemmings of the internet pinning, posting, tweeting, and consequently emulating the sidewalk fashooonz they admire. And by they, I mean me; and maybe you, too?
