Indie filmmaker Brian Pera, Andy Tauer's collaborator on the Tableau de Parfums series, wrote:

"To say that Loretta is a tuberose fragrance is to me like calling Notre Dame a building."

The very first time I smelled Loretta there was something that jumped out at me from the sample: a golden light, honeyed ripe fruit, oh, and a dense tuberose. On skin, Loretta becomes an intoxicating weave of white flowers and fruity nectar that soars and envelopes the wearer until it dries down into a rich amber.

While the official list of notes (via Luckyscent) reads sort of Tauer-like, Loretta doesn't necessarily greet you with any of Andy's familiar accords. The very fleshy fruit and sultry orange blossoms at the peak of their bloom (and maybe a day beyond) are not something I readily associate with this perfumer.  The complexity of the end result, though, is every bit what I'd expect: a fragrance that ensnares you and transport you into its world.

Loretta's world is dreamy and hazy. She's lost in a fantasy that lets her escape the mundane; in her dream she wears a sexy dress and is free to spend the golden afternoon letting go and being her true self. This true self is desirable and daring, forward and bold. She's not meek and neither is this perfume. Two sprays make a statement. Three and Loretta takes the world by storm. I'm happy to let it carry me away.

Notes: Ripe sweet fruits and oriental spices (cinnamon, clove, coriander),  rose, orange blossom,  tuberose,  leather, vetiver, wood, vanilla, and aged patchouli.

If you're in Los Angeles and the area, Andy Tauer will be at Scent Bar (7405 Beverly Blvd.) on Friday, October 19th between 5 and 7 PM to introduce and launch his Tableau de Parfums- Loretta. I can't urge you enough to attend the event if you can. There's nothing like hearing a wonderful artist such as Andy speak about his work.  I can't be in L.A. this weekend (how I wish! Such a big part of my heart is there), but I do have the ability to make three of you happy (as long as you have a US address):

To win a sample of Loretta please leave a comment and tell me: Have you ever met any perfumers and/or whom (dead or alive) you'd want to meet.

Because of postal tomfoolery, the draw is limited to US residents.
