Though Apple has confirmed the long rumored Beats Electronics’ acquisition for $3 billion, there were some speculation remained about the current partnerships of Beats electronics including HP devices as well as the Beats Music app’s availability at Google Play Store for Android devices and at Windows Phone Store for WP handsets. According to the report, Beats will be retaining the current deal with HP until 2015 and the Beat Music, a streaming music app will continue to available for download for the time being.
HP has confirmed to CNET that its partnership with Beats Electronics will be continued and the PC manufacturer will be selling laptops, desktops and tablets with Beats Audio installed till the end of next year. However, HP has also confirmed that production of devices with Beats Audio will be stopped at the end of 2014.
This means, if Apple integrates Beats Audio on its Macbooks, iPads or iPhones, then it will be having Hewlett-Packard as the competitor having the same Beats logo as marketing tool on its devices until next year.
Regarding continuation of Beats Music’s Android and Windows Phone application, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue has confirmed and said to keep the apps for those platforms, “it’s on Android now, and we want to keep it that way.”
Beats Music has been launched i early 2014 and it has already garnered over 250,000 subscribers. When you see the Android app page in Google Play Store, you can see that the app has been downloaded over 1 million times. Google Play Store shows the download numbers in between 1,000,000 – 5,000,000.
Earlier this year, there were some rumors that hinted about availability of Apple iTunes for Android devices. Would it be possible or not, the keeping of Beats Music at Google Play Store will be the first time of Apple offering an application to its rival platform, Android.
