KARACHI: Chef Sara Riaz died of breast cancer today (Friday), ARY Zauq informed via its Facebook page.
The post said, “Words seem inadequate to express the melancholy we feel about the sad demise of cooking expert Sara Riaz. She had been battling with breast cancer disease and was declared to be in critical condition last week. After a severe illness and struggle she passed away this morning (18th April,2014) in Karachi. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.(May her soul rest in peace)”
Shaheen Malik, editor of food magazine Dalda ka Dastarkhwaan, said “Her passing is a huge loss for the food industry. Sara Riaz trained an entire generation of chefs.”
She had 20 years of cooking experience and was one of the most respected chefs of Pakistan. She had hosted popular cooking shows like ‘Zauq Zindagi’, ‘Tonight’s Menu’ and ‘Khanay mai Kiya hai’ on ARY Zauq.
In addition to doing cooking shows on TV, Sara also owned a training institute, which she ran from her house in North Naziamabad, Karachi.
She was married but she had no children. She was buried today after Friday prayers.
