After the election of President Buhari on May 29, 2015 and his swearing in into office, most Nigerians have been on the brink as to what the new regime will unfold for them.
There has been a lot of underground work in the refund of stolen loot from past leaders and people who held positions of authority in Nigeria.
As Buhari claims, the nation is broke. This is leading to a very high income drive by the agencies in charge of revenue mobilization such as the Customs, Federal Inland revenue Service, Immigration and the likes.
Getting in revenue means one way or the other milking the citizens’ dry of the little they have if any of the agencies are engaged in their services.
This implies prospering the nation and impoverishing the citizens. Will this work and will this be the solution to the dwindling national resources.
The other areas which the President should look at is empowering the youths which has the major population in the country.
If this segment of the economy is empowered, then there will be increased production and the resources of the nation will be well harnessed for a better revenue drive.
Now that President Buhari has started the fence – mending exercise, let us see how far it will take us in the international community.
Probably the much needed Foreign Direct Investment will flow in and the President would have put in place a better security apparatus to check or quell the Boko Haram insurgency.
Foreigners need to be assured of their security while in a foreign country.
