This week, we’re going to Cleveland (by way of my hometown Brooklyn) for this uber fly and fun plus size boutique! Imagine if our frequent flyer miles were affected by these posts!
You Oughta Know: Re/Dress
Re/Dress began as a brick-and-mortar store in Brooklyn, New York. Deb Malkin started the store in 2008 to give curvy girls a boutique of their own. “New York’s the retail capital of the world, but there’s nowhere for us to shop,” Malkin told the NY Daily News back in 2010, “That’s why plus-sized women come here from all over the city.“. It was a much welcome breath of fresh air for many New York fatshionistas, as the place offered fun and affordable fashions that were much unlike the norm.
Rachel Kacenjar was an employee of the Brooklyn store. She is credited with growing the store’s hyper dedicated following, and she eventually bought the company in 2013 and moved it to Northeast Ohio. “I didn’t need to be in New York, or Milan and Los Angeles,” says Kacenjar. “You can do all this from Cleveland, and I love that entrepreneurs are figuring that out.”
Bringing her vision for Re/Dress into fruition, Rachel also designed and expanded the company’s popular line of fashionable, yet durable basics, Teggings. The line is now available in leggings, long sleeve shirts, tube tops, cage bras and mini dresses, that are designed to be eye-catching and oh so fly!
Re/Dress has become a go-to place for modern and vintage inspired plus size fashion, and clothing that dares to be different. For Rachel, she believes that clothing provides an opportunity for people to express themselves politically and creatively. And that everyone deserves equal access to that opportunity. “By choosing and wearing stylish clothes, people can work to create a society that embraces wider and more diverse standards of beauty.”
And she believes that it starts with creating both a physical store and an online presence so that Re/Dress is accessible to everyone with a phone, laptop or PC. This is especially important for people who may feel geographically or otherwise isolated from the fashion world.

One of my biggest regrets is having missed my opportunity to shop at the brick-and-mortar store while it was in Brooklyn. I love plus size fashion that is unique, quirky, sexy, and fun! And what’s fabulous about Re/Dress is that their fashion embodies all of those things and much, much more!! This is why I think You Oughta Know, Re/Dress.
