One balloon to rule them
all? Try 2,600. That is how many it took one man to build his very own Hobbit
house from balloons.

Hobbit homes have, of
course, been built by many J.R.R. Tolkein fans in recent years. Since the Lord
of the Rings trilogy took cinemas by storm, a man in Wales has built his own eco-friendly hole in the
ground for £3,000 and a company in Maine, USA, has started its own
business providing officially licensed Hobbit Holes.

But Jeremy Telford took
things to new heights with his inflatable abode this month. The 34 year old
professional artist from Utah spent 40 hours building Bilbo Baggins' iconic Bag End from an
assortment of balloons, including fireplace, chandelier, a functioning pantry
and a chair.

"I've been wanting to build something from
"The Hobbit" for a while now," he told Rex
Features ahead of the new film's release this Christmas. "[My wife and I] figured out how to get most of the furniture out of our living room and
planned out how to build around the rest."'

Undeterred by the challenge, Telford spent three days blowing up balloons
before shaping and decorating his front room with them, taking care to keep his
kids away from any sharp objects. All the while, he took photos of the process
every 18 seconds to create a timelapse video that has amassed over 260,000
views on YouTube.

"They were sad when it finally came time to
actually get rid of all the balloons," Telford commented. But while Jeremy's living room
suffered that deflated feeling, his home did anything but: indeed, Utah's property
market was ranked number three in the Top 10 housing markets
in the USA by 24/7 Wall Street in September.

Property prices in the state have inflated at an
annual rate of 9.3 per cent as the country continues its recovery from the
financial crisis. If Balloon Bag End was really on the market, who knows what
its value would be next year, when the second Hobbit film is released?
