10 Wedding Planning Apps to help you plan your Modern Jewish Wedding

Welcome to all the newest engaged MJW’s.  Now, that you’ve had a few weeks to show off the bling–it’s time to get down to business and start planning.  Here are 10 essential wedding planning apps to download to your smart phone and tablet to help you plan your Modern Jewish Wedding 24/7.  Now you can pin during coffee breaks, lunchtime and we won’t tell–at the boring meeting you’re stuck in right now!

Appy Couple

Appy Couple is still officially my favorite new app for wedding couples. As a part of the Engage!14 experience we had our own Appy Couple App. Imagine an app where your guests could have the entire wedding weekend schedule at their fingertips, maps to the various locations, and curate photos and content! I’m barely scratching the surface of everything this app can do (this is a short piece). Did I mention they have over 300 designs you can use to personalize your app & create your wedding website to match? It costs money, but, you get plenty of bang for the bucks–it is a must have.

Pinterest

Not gonna like, it’s the biggest time suck on the internet–and we love every minute we while away on this app.  Heck, we even did a dedicated pinboard just for this blog post.

Mashable said, “It’s like ripping the pages out of wedding magazines and taping them to your bulletin board — but digitally. Even better, each picture is typically linked to a site where you can buy the styles you want, learn DIY crafting tips and become informed about the latest trends. Friends and other Pinterest followers can also leave comments and feedback to make the whole planning process more interactive.”

Or, you can make it a secret board where only you and your trusted wedding planner have access.  LOVE IT!

Wedding Dress Look Book by The Knot

Think of it as your on-the-go source for wedding dress shopping on your iPhone from TheKnot.com — from wedding dress suggestions, customized to your body type and wedding style, to the bridal salons in your area that carry your favorite designs.  And, in the latest version you can shop for accessories to match your day of look.

myPantone Wedding App

Is Perfect Palette one of your favorite wedding blogs? Then this app is for you!

A perfect marriage of color and creativity – the myPANTONE™  app lets you create the perfect color styleboard for your wedding or special event and share it with those who can make your day spectacular!

They describe it best, “For over 50 years, PANTONE has been the international language of color. Why struggle with color communication when you can simply reference a PANTONE Color and designers and manufacturers all over the world will know your exact hue. With the myPANTONE™ app you have access to over 13,000 PANTONE® Colors, including the PANTONE PLUS SERIES and Fashion + Home colors. Easily create color palettes for inspiration and share them with friends, clients and vendors. myPANTONE offers designers and color conscious consumers a way to take PANTONE Colors with them wherever they go. Can’t remember what a color looks like? Now you can have Portable Color Memory™.

It has a slight cost to it–but, it will be the best $10 you spend out of your miscellaneous (AKA Secret) wedding budget.

Evernote

If you don’t already have Evernote as your personal assistant in the cloud…Why Not?

For example, you’re at work right now reading this article and if you pull up itunes and start downloading all these new apps to play with you’ll probably get busted! Clip this article right now with Evernote! Then you can escape to the restroom, with your smart phone in hand, pull up your Evernote (because it’s cloud based you can access your account across all platforms) and download away!

Mint

For your budget planning, this is a new one for our 2015 list.  Instead of going with a wedding budget app, we went with what CNN Money called, “Cadillac of money management apps.”

Keeping your wedding in budget is THE challenge during wedding planning. Mint will not only help you keep This app is a necessary tool to set up your wedding budget, keep track of expenses and shows a clear view of over/under budget status. (Who are we kidding? OVER, right?). But also, you can get reminders when bills are due and conveniently pay bills with a bank account or credit card.

Bride’s Wedding Magazine

Our favorite wedding magazine has gone digital! Best of all, if you’re already a subscriber the digital edition comes free. Now, you can read your latest edition on your ipad and use your Pinterest app to pin your favorite images. Then show your favorite pics to your florist on your Pinterest Board or in Evernote!

Wedding Mix

No need to hunt down all the instagram photos or youtube videos your friends are sharing! This app will help you curate and edit all the content to create a wedding video you’ll actually share and watch! WeddingMix is the easy and fun way to turn the clips shot at a wedding into a professionally edited video.

Just have your friends start taking video with the app, decide which clips to send to Storymix and your Facebook wall. You will get all the clips and be able to choose which ones to include in their final edited video.

RISE:  The Sunrise/Sunset Calendar

Because this is The Modern Jewish Wedding–this app is just for you!  Need to know what time sunset is going to be the Saturday night of your wedding at your wedding destination?  Look no further than the RISE App.  Best Part?  No Internet Access Required.

BeFitBit

Wedding planning is stressful.  Make sure you are staying healthy, taking time for yourself and getting plenty of sleep.  Track it all in the same place using FitBit.  You can even let your wedding party friends help you stay motivated by sharing your progress with them.  And, you can pick your FitBit to go with  your wedding color palette (see the MyPantone app above).
