The Modern Jewish Wedding Details
Alissa and Mark originally met at a bar before heading to a concert with their respective groups of friends. It wasn’t until six months later that they really hit it off, when Mark spotted Alissa at a different bar and recognized her from their first encounter. After that second fateful meeting, the romance was on, and Mark later proposed on the 17th hole at Fenway Golf Club in New York after a perfect day spent golfing, lunching and swimming together.
The ceremony spot was adorned with lush florals, including cascading hydrangeas, roses and calla lilies draped on the chuppah & arrangements set atop birch posts. The ballroom was transformed with a diamond-shaped dance floor, white couches, draped-fabric ceilings and hanging lights to give the room a magical vibe. Guests celebrated by dancing the night away.
At one point the food captain told us they were having trouble taking the dinner orders because no one would stop dancing,”Alissa said.
The classic cake exuded traditional elegance and featured yellow cake with hazelnut ganache topped with white tea roses. Guests snacked on desserts from the large candy bar—in honor of the bride’s sweet tooth—along with Key lime pie and a chocolate bombe dessert.
Don’t get too wrapped up in all the little details—no one will remember what color your tablecloths and napkins were. Try to stay focused on the bigger picture. You’re marrying the love of your life, and everyone is there to celebrate that,” Alissa said.
The couple was swept off to a romantic Grecian getaway, where they spent a week in Mykonos and a week exploring Santorini.
