This fall and winter’s wild El Niño weather may make you wish for spring, with fresh and frothy pastels creating the right mood for 2016.
With Pantone as the go-to color expert, the 2016 Color of the Year is actually two – a blend of two soft shades (Rose Quartz and Serenity) that bring to mind warm rose tones and cool blue.
“Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times,” Pantone’s announcement said. And, Pantone wanted to make sure to challenge traditional perceptions about color, with the same blurring of gender-specific tones (think girl-pink/blue-boys) toward more fluidity.
