WINDHAND (USA) – https://www.facebook.com/Windh

andVA

Founded in 2009 in Richmond VA, Windhand is a stoner, doom metal band  made up of Aschiah Bogdan, Parker Chandler, Dorthia Cottrell, Garrett  Morris, and Ryan Wolfe. They have been compared to Electric Wizard,  Blood Ceremony, the Devil’s Blood, and Black Sabbath.

In March  2012, Windhand released their self-titled debut which quickly became an  underground hit, selling out of multiple vinyl presses in a matter of  months. It was recorded and mixed at the Dark Room by Garrett Morris and mastered at Slipped Disc Audio by Bill McElroy in 2011. After a steady  touring schedule, the band collaborated with Richmond brethren Cough on a split entitled “Reflections of the Negative” due out on Relapse Records in April 2013. Windhand officially signed to Relapse Records in March  2013 and release their highly anticipated sophomore debut SOMA in late  2013.

“They also make you want to jump out of your chair and  start stomping around the workplace punching co-workers as you go by in a mindless haze.” – The Sleeping Shaman

“This album is clear in  its intention to be the heaviest bout of doom to grace one’s eardrums in some time.” – Metal Underground

INTER ARMA (USA) – https://www.facebook.com/INTER

ARMA

Formed in 2006, Inter Arma is one of the most talked about heavy bands  to come out of Richmond, VA . The group (consisting of T.J. Childers -  Drums, Steven Russell – Guitars, Trey Dalton – Guitars, Mike Paparo -  Vocals, Joe Kerkes – Bass) formed in 2006 and released their crushing  debut full-length Sundown via Forcefield Records in 2010 to much  critical acclaim. Combining a punk rock ethos with an esoteric blend of  psychedelia, black metal, and doom/sludge, the quintet quickly developed a name for themselves in the underground through relentless touring and mesmerizing live performances. After Sundown’s release, Inter Arma  began a rigorous DIY touring schedule, playing shows with bands like  Cough, Krallice, Mutant Supremacy, Castevet, Royal Thunder, Ken Mode,  The Body, Hull, Batillus, Black Breath and many more.

In 2012, the  band released a 12″ EP entitled Destroyer via Toxic Assets Records.   Based on the strength of this EP they immediately signed to Relapse  Records and embarked on a self-booked month long tour.  The band  excitedly commented “It’s pretty crazy to think that we’ll be tacitly  associated with bands like Neurosis, Amorphis, Human Remains,  diSEMBOWELMENT, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Incantation, Mastodon, et al. That’s a pretty high standard to hold yourself to, but we’ll give it  our damndest.”    Expect Inter Arma to deliver on their promise. Their  next album, set for an early 2013 release with Relapse, is sure to be  their most challenging, devastating release yet.

ALUNAH  (UK) – www.alunah.co.uk

West Midlands based Alunah are not part of any scene; instead they  carve their own path merging elements of doom, psych and classic heavy  rock with earthy hypnotic vocal melodies.

They will release their  third album on Napalm Records in 2014, which follows “Call of Avernus”  (2010) and the critically acclaimed “White Hoarhound” (2012).

Alunah consist of Soph Day (vocals and guitar), Dave Day (guitar), Dan  Burchmore (bass), Jake Mason (drums), and have spent the last 7 years  building up a reputation for being one of the most hardworking and  consistent live bands. They have played European dates with  international artists such as Saint Vitus, Trouble, Paradise Lost, High  on Fire, The Sword; and prestigious festivals such as DesertFest (Berlin and London), Heavy Days in Doom Town in Copenhagen and Hard Rock Hell  in North Wales.

So light up the candles, fire up the incense, close the curtains and open your mind.

IRON SWAN (UK) – http://ironswan.bugs3.com/

In the year 2010, brothers Thom and Loz began forging thick, dirty  sludge-doom in a building that should of been condemned. The sheer  horror of what they had created forced them to abandon the room, stop  playing music and never speak of that time again. Several years later in 2012, with their minds and ears repaired, they initiated two well-known warlords (Ben Gaten and Tom Doidge) into their fold, dusted off their  monolith speaker cabinets and immersed themselves once more in the  project. Dealing in crushing riffs, disorientating feedback and  irresponsible volume, Iron Swan is the perfect soundtrack to life in a  dirty, broken and violent place. Like Nottingham legends Fudge Tunnel  and Iron Monkey before them, the band carry on a grand tradition of  angering the public and providing genuine catharsis for audiences who  crave the holy trinity… Riff, Rhythm and VOLUME. Having laid waste to  venues like Rock City and The Corporation alongside respected bands  EYEHATEGOD, TORCHE and BOSSK to name few, Iron Swan are on the verge of  recording their magnum opus debut album; Northern Grief.
