MY NAME is Ezra Tan and I’m eight years old.
My favourite character from a Singapore writer is Watson the Robot, from the Sherlock Sam series of books written by A. J. Low.
My favourite book in the series so far is ‘Sherlock Sam and the Missing Heirloom in Katong’.
This book set in Katong, where Sherlock Sam’s Aunty Kim Lian’s precious Peranakan cookbook has gone missing, and Sam cannot have his favourite Ayam Buah Kerluak anymore, unless he finds the cookbook!
I like this book because it is Sherlock Sam’s first adventure with Watson the Robot. It is interesting and mysterious, and I like it also because I’m a Peranakan boy.
I like Watson the Robot because he has extendable arms and legs, which can reach high and low, near and far places. When Sherlock Sam gets into trouble, Watson always says, “I told you so.”
Watson is funny in a grumpy sort of way.
Watson is the trusty sidekick to Sherlock Sam, who is described as “Singapore’s greatest kid detective”. In Sherlock Sam and the Missing Heirloom in Katong, Auntie Kim Lian’s Peranakan cookbook disappears, and it’s up to Sherlock Sam and and Watson the Robot to solve the mystery and find the cookbook.
