Time for this week's edition of Brilliant Bloggers! Today we are featuring Lisa of Geordie Nails.

What got you into nail polish in the first place?

My mam let me buy a horrible pink nail polish from the pharmacy when I was a little girl, and I loved it! I got back into painting my nails as an adult when I saw an irresistibly colourful display of nail polish by the brand 17 in Boots (a UK drugstore).

What made you decide to start blogging?

Glitter Gal’s blue holo! This was the brand which introduced me to holographic polish. I had never seen something so beautiful and, once I had it on my nails, all I wanted to do was take photos and show people.

How long have you been blogging?
Since August 2011. I have taken chunks of time off blogging as life brought its ups and downs, but I’m proud to still be going.

Do you have a post that you are especially proud of?

My 2013 round-up post as I got to look back at all the different techniques I’d tried and remember what looks I wanted to try again.

Have there been any challenges in blogging that you've had to overcome?
Mostly the challenge has been keeping the blog going while I fight mental health problems. Sometimes it’s hard to find the energy to paint my nails or to blog - but other times it’s exactly what I need to feel better.

Favorite commercial polish brand?
Barry M consistently come out with interesting polishes - even if they’re not always to my taste, it’s great that they stay so current at a low price point. I love their new Mermaid glitters and Silk collection.

Favorite indie polish brand(s)?

I don’t own a lot of indies at all, but I bought Cloudy Skies by The Polish Bar in a blog sale and it is just perfect.

Favorite polish(es? I know it's hard to pick one!)

Lavender Cloud by Sally Hansen makes the perfect base for pretty nail art; I must have used it a million times now! As far as “special” polishes go, I love glitters in general and The Impossible by OPI is like a cuddle on your nails ^_^

Have any pets? Tell me a little about them!

My family has a beautiful calico cat named Vienna. We adopted her from a Cats Protection shelter 4 years ago and since then she has blossomed. She is loved to pieces and she uses this to her advantage to beg for treats!

What's your zodiac sign?

Cancer.

How old are you?

25.

What's your profession outside of blogging? Or, are you a full-time blogger?

I’m currently not well enough to work but am hoping this will change in the near future, with help and support.

Any other hobbies other than polish + blogging?

I like origami and can make little birds and roses. The French language is my passion and I’m currently trying to make sense of some 13th Century Old French poetry. I’m also watching Heroes and loving it!

Anything else you want to share?
Just that being a member of the nail art community is a joy; I love sharing that common interest and being inspired by everyone.
