Today I have some swatches from a fairly new brand, Yume Lacquer. The owner is actually an old friend of mine- we met on livejournal a long time ago...not sure exactly when, probably around 2004 (geez, that seems like a long time ago when I type it out!!)? Bonding over sailor moon cosplay drama, haha. And one time she came here passing through and we got Sonic. It was pretty cool.

Despite this, please know that as with any reviews on my blog, I will of course be honest about my opinion of the products. As a disclaimer, I purchased a few of these of my own selection and Amanda was kind enough to throw in a few extras to share photos of with you guys!

Yume Lacquer's collections are nerdy based, which I love. Today I am sharing with you a few polishes from the Sailor Moon collection and on Monday I will share with you the Persona collection. Actually, one of the polishes in this post is technically from that collection, but I needed another one to show in today's post and hey- Fan the Flames sounds like it could be a Sailor Mars polish too, right? Right? Speaking of which, Mars & Venus were always my favorite two characters. I even cosplayed as her a few years ago!

Enough with the cosplay, on to the polish! Let's get started with Fan The Flames. Yume's shop says this about the polish:

This item is a nail polish based on the character Yukiko Amagi of one of the most popular video games (certainly, probably my favorite game of all time!), Persona 4, named "Fan the Flames."

I would describe this is a warm red with hints of red-orange semi-sheer with gold flakies. When layered, the flakes reflect through the base, almost looking like flames. Can't guarantee that use of this polish will help you to run your family's inn or set things on fire.

Application was a little tricky- I like to try polishes how they come to me first before adding any thinner, I think this one could have benefited from just a bit. I do love the gold flakes peeking out from the red although they did get a bit overpowered by the base. These swatches are of two coats with one coat of Seche Vite on top. It was really opaque in 1 coat but I added a second hoping to see more of the gold flakes. It is slightly darker red than my camera is picking up here.

Next up is the polish based on Sailor Pluto- Time Distortion. I always loved Pluto in the manga but she was kind of boring in the anime. Am I the only one? Wait, I'm supposed to be talking about the polish here! Sorry, Sailor Moon conversations distract me- has anyone else bought the re-released manga they just finally came out with? I just got the final volume (other than the short stories) and I'm really happy to have them all on my shelf! Sorry, sorry, polish. Time Distortion was a bit on the thick side as well, but not nearly as much as FTF. It's a greyish polish with a hint of purple that's really pretty and definitely a unique color to my collection. It applied pretty smooth and again was almost totally opaque in one coat, I did two for these swatches to be safe, and applied 1 coat of Seche Vite.

And last, but not least we have Rainbow Heart. If you couldn't tell by the name, this is the polish based on Sailor Moon herself! This is easily my favorite of the three, but I just can't resist pink! I considered using pink undies but decided not to and used just two coats here with no VNL & one coat of Seche Vite. I did test out undies on my thumb with two coats of China Glaze Something Sweet and one coat of Rainbow Heart but I got a very similar effect so I probably wouldn't use anything under it in the future. This one applied fairly well, a bit thick but applied more smoothly than the other two. Amanda told me beforehand that I might need to take care to spread the glitters evenly but I found that they spread pretty easily on their own.

That's it for today's post. If you're looking to pick up some Yume Lacquer of your own, Amanda's shop can be found here and you can like Yume Lacquer on facebook here! Join me on Monday to take a look at Galactic Punt, Gasp! The Enemy, Animal Instinct & Wild Card.
