Greg & Lucky to host 947’s new Shazam Chart
Highveld 947’s Greg and Lucky will be bringing their weeknight antics into the weekend as they host the Shazam Chart from 16h00 to 18h00 each Sunday.
Using the data of popular song identification phone app Shazam, the pair will present the hottest tunes in South Africa with a mix of pop culture and celebrity guests.
The Shazam Chart is an extension of Greg and Lucky’s daily feature, The List, which features the most Shazamed songs of the day.
“We have worked with Shazam on a number of campaigns to great success – the synergies between music radio and the Shazam platform are so strong and this chart is another way that audiences can connect with 947 through Shazam’s technology,” said Ravi Naidoo, 947 station manager.
947 Bloc Party with Sizwe Dlhomo will now get listeners geared up for their weekends, with a Friday night show from 19h00 to 22h00, in addition to the Saturday night Bloc Party, which Sizwe hosts between 18h00 and 21h00.
Greg and Lucky will continue to host their weeknight shows, from 19h00 to 22h00, Monday to Thursday.
The changes will be implemented from Friday 8 May 2015 with the first Shazam Chart with Greg and Lucky taking place on Sunday 10 May at 16h00.
Ndoni Khanyile joins Al Jazeera earthrise
After impressing as the presenter of Innovate Africa on Al Jazeera last year, South African Ndoni Khanyile is joining the award-winning team on earthrise, the channel’s inspirational environment show. In the seventh season premiere on Monday, 20 April 2015, Ndoni travels to the Seychelles to find out how the Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) programme works.
“Working on solution-orientated programming is great because it’s all about what can and is being done about various challenges, usually by ordinary people committed to change,” says Khayile. “Preserving our natural resources is critical to our future, especially in Africa, where so many still make their livelihood from the land. We need to start thinking of maintaining healthy eco systems as a catalyst to employment and not a threat to jobs.”
Before joining Al Jazeera last year, Ndoni hosted ENCA’s premier technology show, Tech Report, from 2011-2013. She also starred in the award-winning SABC 1 miniseries When We Were Black; films like Skeem and Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom; and alongside John Kani in the Sean Mathias play Antigone, among other roles.
Jaco Lintvelt appointed to drive AMNET Dentsu Aegis Network’s RTB platform
Jaco Lintevelt has joined Dentsu Aegis Network to run the agency’s programmatic and real time bidding platform in South Africa. “We are the algorithm” is the phrase that AMNET employees live and breathe. It means that it isn’t about the technology; it is about the people who drive it, so we are equally excited in welcoming Jaco Lintvelt in taking the reign in growing this new business to a leadership position in the market,” says Gerrit Visser, trading director for Dentsu Aegis Network SSA.
Lintvelt’s extensive experience in the ad technology, publisher yield management and real time media buying at businesses such as Primedia Online as the head of new business and head of digital media sales at DQ&A Media Group, displays his understanding of the media landscape in South Africa and demonstrates his ability to expand and innovate.

Life insurance player, BrightRock, has partnered SuperSport and celebrated presenter Nicholl to bring this fun and informative new talk show – where Change is always on the menu – to South African viewers.
Each week a trio of guests from the entertainment, lifestyle and sporting worlds will join Nicholl in-studio for a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and will raise a smile from some of our nation’s more familiar faces.
Nicholl says he has finally landed his dream job: “I first shot a pilot with the idea of my show 13 years ago, so it’s taken a while to get here. Hopefully it’ll finally stop my mum telling me to get a real job!”

M-Net partners with science centres for national career expo
M-Net has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with three science centres across South Africa to host national career exhibitions, under the umbrella of its M-Net Magic in Motion initiative.
M-Net Magic in Motion is M-Net’s rebranded corporate social investment initiative, launched in 2014, that comprises two flagship initiatives, the M-Net Magic in Motion Academy and the M-Net Magic in Motion Career Expo.
For M-Net, having partnered with the science centres further entrenches its commitment to developing local talent in the film and television industry and creates a nationwide awareness of the many, and diverse opportunities in this industry.
According to Kershnee Govender, M-Net corporate affairs director, the decision to partner with the science centres is two-fold: The need to create greater, nationwide awareness of the diverse career opportunities in the film and television industry and secondly, the opportunity to create a permanent exhibition in the science centres showcasing the world of film and television creating awareness to a wider audience.
“Collaboration with the science centres catapults our initiative as we are partnering with established entities who work closely with provincial education departments, have a significant reach, impact learners and students’ lives with the advice on offer and enjoy a clear understanding of the specific target audience M-Net is hoping to engage with,” said Govender.
The career expos will be held in the following regions, on the following dates:
11-14 August 2015, Johannesburg, Sci-Bono Discovery Centre

HealthEngage – a proven success for Health24 advertisers and consumers
In 2014, Health24 launched HealthEngage, a groundbreaking new section to their website that runs on a sponsorship model rather than traditional run-of-site advertising (ROS). The centres offer companies a unique and highly engaged in-content sponsorship that enables users who are looking for specific medical information to simultaneously find information about a relevant solution, product or service.
Currently, the HealthEngage section is divided into over 70 centres, each of which focuses on a specific medical condition. The content in these centres, which range from mini centres such as knee pain to maxi centres such as cancer, is made up of breaking news, research, user experiences and multimedia, along with solid information on symptoms, treatment, diagnosis, prevention, causes and an ‘about’ section pertaining to the relevant disease.
Since the launch of the HealthEngage sponsorship model, 20 condition centres have been sponsored, for periods ranging from three months to a year.
”Within the HealthEngage centres, we’ve replaced overt display advertising by integrating the client’s message into the centre itself. This way, brands can build strong, meaningful relationships with their target audience,” says Dr. Danie Pauw, MD of Health24.
“Statistical data has shown that click-through rates and engagement, including client collateral is much higher than with traditional ROS advertising. The result has been that sponsors are eager to retain their presence in this market and have renewed their sponsorships,” adds Pauw.
The sponsorship model allows brands to leverage tools like polls and surveys to get feedback directly from their potential customers. It provides advertisers with a number of different solutions such as interactive client displays, weekly condition-specific action points, advertorials, multimedia and branded content.
