"Great Stay • Our weekend spent in the Maple Spring cabin was just what we needed. Danielle was accommodating in every way and eager to make our stay wonderful. Our server, Velva, was friendly and personable. She took care of our every need and maintained a glowing smile through the entirety of both of our meals. The chef and his team need to be recognized for their hard work, as our meal matched any experience we have had here in Charleston. It was truly a perfect stay." ~ Aaron W, Charleston, South Carolina
"Outstanding food • This place is a food-lovers dream. The cozy dining room is quite charming and everything we ate was delightful. I loved touring their garden across the street. Our room was perfect with a notable attention to detail (The CD player that looked like an old fashioned radio with a fun assortment of music and chocolate covered strawberries were highlights for me.)" ~ Vgardner7, Nashville, Tennessee
"Great fall getaway • The people are so warm and friendly, Danielle is amazing! We have stayed before in the spring and the fall was no different except the beautiful leaves. The chef was so accommodating for my wife’s food allergies (and gluten free diet) making special dishes for each meal for her. This place is just the best of the best and we have traveled all over the world!" ~ Turbo72014, Watkinsville, Georgia
"Loved our stay • We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at the Mast Farm Inn. While we were booked for a room in the main house upon our arrival we were upgraded to The Loom House Cottage. What a nice surprise! It was fun staying in our own "little house" which was right across the yard from the main house. We found the staff to be charming and helpful in every way. The cottage was clean, had its own sink and mini-fridge and was supplied with plenty of firewood for the fireplace. While the huge soaking tub on the 1st floor is a key feature the shower area upstairs is rather small. Breakfasts were delicious 2 course meals. One day the entrée was savory, the next day sweet. Mast Farm Inn is located to easily travel to Boone, Blowing Rock or Banner Elk. I was able to peek into the rooms in the main house. While all are lovely, upon our return I would book either Nell’s Room or Cousin Sarah’s room. A wonderful stay. Thank you!" ~ Cincy2, Cincinnati, Ohio
"A Great Stay • My wife and I stayed in the Maple Spring Cottage at the Mast Farm Inn for a Valentine’s Day getaway, and we had a great time. The cottage was perfectly cozy and was decorated and adorned with nice furnishings and fixtures. It was very comfortable and relaxing, especially in the snow. And the soaking tub, hot tub, and steam shower were all very much enjoyed. On top of that, Danielle and Rebecca were wonderful hostesses. They both have a happy demeanor and pleasantness of spirit that I find to be enormously appealing. They truly embody the spirit of the jolly innkeeper, and make you feel like family while you are with them. They really are both quite lovely! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend that you stay at the Mast Farm Inn — I really don’t know how you would be disappointed." ~ Brian M, Raleigh, North Carolina
"Just booked it again! • The stay was amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and filling. The inn did a great job paying attention to detail and making the room feel cozy. We loved our time at the inn so much; we booked another weekend right on the spot." ~ RSD82, Charlotte, North Carolina
"Great Stay • 3rd visit in 5 years. Always a great experience and beautiful setting. Great Breakfast, close to good restaurants in Boone. MFI is a classic mountain inn that is quiet and a true retreat, even in the winter." ~ NTWF, Tennessee
"A perfect mountain getaway • We loved everything about our stay at the Mast Farm Inn. Every detail was accounted for and the service was personal and attentive. And the food was outstanding! If you are looking for a mountain getaway, you will find nothing better than the Mast Farm Inn." ~ Jenny S, Greensboro, North Carolina
"Big Smile • "I had booked this hotel at the last minute as a place to stay for my boys to go snowboarding. We had such a great time! It was the only hotel I had seen online that interested me in that area and I guess I just got lucky. I hope I have the time and opportunity to return – slice of heaven" ~ Renee R, Jacksonville Beach, Florida
"Six Stars • The property itself is beautiful and set in a story book setting. The personal and personalized service goes beyond what one would expect from a Ritz Carlton – but with genuine warmth and hospitality. Their incredible chef produces gourmet meals not only at dinner, but at breakfast. Everything is made from scratch and either farm grown or locally sourced. Coffee is delivered outside your room in the morning. This is an extraordinary find, perfect for a special occasion weekend, or, if you are lucky enough to be within driving distance – a great dining experience. The "Specialty Menu" changes daily and is a perfect combination of incredible courses at a bargain price." ~ GringoDave47, New Bern, North Carolina
"Relaxing Weekend • My husband and I just spent the weekend at The Mast Farm Inn. The attention to detail was impeccable. From the wooden key ring to our names in the cute breakfast menu to the scented bath salts… every detail was accounted for. We recommend staying in one of the cabins. It was very quiet and private with a warm and cozy feel." ~ Mrswoodluvsdogs, Vinton, VA
"Wonderful place to stay • My wife and I spent three nights including Thanksgiving at the Inn. The room, meals, and service was perfect. The cost was very reasonable. We fell in love with the area. We will be back. I have only read one bad review about the Inn and will tell you this. If you have a bad time, meal or room at the Mast Farm Inn, its only because you didn’t let the staff know. They will do what ever it takes to make your stay perfect. The staff was so friendly and it showed that they enjoyed working there." ~ Michael2299, Lakeland, Florida
"Perfect Elopement • We just eloped at the Mast Farm Inn and had an amazing time. We were completely charmed by the historic home and romantic Gazebo cottage where we stayed. The electric fireplace made the room so cozy! The inn took care of everything for our ceremony – all we had to do was make a few choices about cake flavors and menus! The photographer (amazing!), music, flowers, officiate, witnesses, and the rest were all taken care of. And the food – some of the best we have ever eaten! Thanks to the Mast Farm Inn – Patrick and Carrie" ~ Carrie H, Mooresville, North Carolina
"Great to be back • Our daughter, who went to college nearby, discovered this place, and we stay there every time we’re in this area. Unfortunately, since she graduated, we haven’t had many opportunities; but one just presented itself recently, and our hosts made us feel like returning royalty. It was even better than we remembered! The lovely breakfasts and cozy accommodations are wonderful, but the innkeepers know that making their guests feel welcome is the secret to keeping a loyal clientele. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else." ~ Hypatia, Decatur, Georgia
"Romance & Solitude • Came to Mast Inn for our 15th anniversary. Was upgraded to the best room on site for no extra charge. Breakfast was mind blowing, and the ambience could not have been more romantic. Most memorable trip my bride and I have ever taken." ~ Stephen W, Toccoa Falls, Georgia, United States
"Awesome! • We were amazed by the atmosphere and hospitality, but the FOOD and DRINKS were so incredible. This was most likely one of the best evenings my wife I have had in our 25 years. Seriously, I know that sounds "over the top", but we really had a delicious meal and a fun experience. Highly recommend! Danielle, Velva, and Rebecca were all so cool and fun, and somewhere behind the scenes, there was a chef who deserves major cudos. The scallop appetizer was incredible, I loved my steak, and my wife devoured her crispy duck. Really great food and a nice night!" ~ Joe G
"Delightful visit, very relaxing! • Spent a couple days in late October at the Inn. The staff was most welcoming and accommodating – especially Rebecca and Danielle, one of the owners. The Mast Farm Inn is lovely, very nicely restored with a gracious feel. The main building does sit right on the road and the farm, gardens and barn are just across the road . We stayed in Nell’s Room, which was was sunny and spacious – very charming. As they clearly mention on their website, the home is historic and has no soundproofing – we found it to be a bit annoying at night. If that is an issue for you – choose one of the cottages instead. Several are rustic, historic buildings on the property and 5 are new and a short walk or drive up the hill. The meals were awesome! Simplicity, the restaurant in the Inn, is a farm-to-table restaurant with a fabulous chef who creates a gourmet dinner based on what is freshly available. Don’t miss an opportunity to dine here! Breakfasts were bountiful and equally delightful – Danielle’s oatmeal is made with star anise and lime peel and is just divine! It was fun to meet and chat with other guests as well. The countryside is beautiful and there are many sights to see and enjoyable activities nearby. Rebecca and Danielle were both quite helpful with directions and recommendations on the area, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is only 5 or 10 minutes away. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return for another visit – will try to book one of the newer cottages next time!" ~ gww3, Atlanta, Georgia
"Beautiful, friendly, idyllic • We were a pair of sisters travelling together for a brief get away. We were so happily surprised with the warm, friendly greeting and the beautiful grounds. There was a wedding album there that had gorgeous pics of brides standing in front of the rustic, cute cabins. We were upgraded for free to the Gazebo cottage and it was heaven! The thermostat was connected to the little iron fireplace and it would go on and off as needed according to the temperature we set – so comfortable and charming! We stayed up and played games in the sitting area near the fireplace. There was a hot tub we braved, even though we hadn’t brought swimsuits (shhh!) and in the morning we had coffee on the porch in the rocking chairs. There was a king bed with a dreamy thick feather comforter. I loved the cute, yet tasteful decorations – not too country antiquey. Really a special getaway. We had the breakfast of course, offered between 8:30 and 9:30. The oatmeal was truly a foodies delight, had great texture and flavor, obviously cream was involved and topped with cooked apples for a sweet, tangy counterpart. The eggs were not especially warm, the organic sausage a little tough. My sister loved the grits saying they were the best she’s had, I however who live in the Midwest could take a pass. The biscuit was light and needed no butter (which is saying a lot). Coffee was full-bodied sold up the street by "Bald Guy"." ~ Toering1, Rochester, IL
"If you are cheap then this is not for you. But if not, your wife will love you • Husband booked romantic weekend in one of the free standing buildings. We stayed three days. Excellent service. Excellent atmosphere. I am not sure how you can make oatmeal in the morning taste so good but it was amazing. The hostess even gave me the recipe. Who knew you could put star anise and lime in oatmeal? The surrounding are is lovely with many places to shop, eat, stroll, etc. We are able to walk the grounds and look at the gardens that provide fresh food to the kitchen. Scenery is beautiful. This place is a perfect getaway for couples – special occasion or not. Loved it. Loved it more that he surprised me with it." ~ Hhnannies
"A Wonderful Escape to the Country! • This was our first time to the Mast Farm Inn and we’d definitely come back! Numerous friends have stayed here and they raved about it, including their food. We had a wonderful time, and the food was outstanding! A lot of focus on local organic food (which I love!), and adding a contemporary twist to some traditional Southern foods. (I’m a foodie and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the country.) The chef did some great things (albeit non-traditional) with fried green tomatoes. This is not the place for you if you’re looking for lots of night life, flat screen TV or good cell phone access! The Inn and some of the outbuildings are historic landmarks, which is cool, but it also means they don’t have the same level of insulation, the floors creak, etc. I love it, though! The street gets a surprising amount of traffic, but the setting is beautiful. The staff was very professional, friendly and helpful." ~ Salisala, Kirkland, WA
"Its a gem! • One of the most beautiful and coziest place I’ve stayed… highly recommended! Service is outstanding. Homemade Food and cocktails with fresh and hand picked fruits makes you want to stay more! Perfect for family or couples… History lives there with everything that you need for your stay." ~ brendamrodz, San Juan, Puerto Rico
"The Mast Farm Inn is a FABULOUS place to stay… AND to host a wedding. • I have nothing but the best compliments for Danielle and her staff. Everything was absolutely perfect for not only all of our guests who stayed at the Inn, but also the picture-perfect wedding that was held across the street. The Mast Farm Inn is wonderful, as is the staff. Someone is always there to meet your needs, the food is amazing, and the rooms are nice and quaint. I would recommend this location in a heartbeat to anyone wanting to enjoy this beautiful part of NC! Well done, Danielle and staff!" ~ EnglandMay2013, Orlando, Florida
"Wonderful, Beautiful and relaxing place to stay. • We stayed here August 16 & 17 for a Niece’s wedding. Our stay was wonderful. Food was excellent. They even fixed an early "to go" breakfast for 2 people in our party because they were going golfing and would miss breakfast. We explored the grounds and up by the pond was a great place to relax and just enjoy the surroundings. They went above and beyond during our stay. Loved the area and would definitely come back again." ~ Pavteam, Charleston, South Carolina
"Another Wonderful Visit! • We just experienced a wonderful anniversary weekend at the Mast Farm Inn. Last year, we choose the Mast Farm Inn to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and the accommodations could not have been better . Because of the impressive staff and genuinely warm hospitality, we decided to return to again celebrate our anniversary. We stayed again at the Loom House, one of our favorite places to stay. Even though the weather turned inclement later in our stay and the Inn was involved with a wedding or two, we were warmly received and made right at home. I would like to single out Rebecca Smith for having such a wonderful personality and can-do attitude to make sure our stay was a pleasant one. The rest of the staff was equally as accommodating. Highly recommend the Loom House! It is a very special place. An old time cabin with modern amenities. It was even nice to hear the rain hit the roof! The restaurant is top-notch and I will review separately. Once again, I would like to thank Ms. Danielle Deschamps and her staff for a great stay. We are already planning to return in the winter. Can’t wait!" ~ Budrock9, Columbia, South Carolina
"Great Weekend Getaway • This was our first visit, and we were very impressed. We had one of the new cottages, and it was quite roomy with full kitchen. Wonderful outdoor porch overlooking pine trees and mountain in distance. Staff was friendly and very responsive. Well situated for visits to Blowing Rock, Boone, Grandfather Mountain. Breakfasts were a real treat as well." ~ LJ S, Rougemont, North Carolina
"Perfect getaway! • We got married at the Mast Farm Inn and not only did we have the perfect wedding, but we had an amazing stay. We were very impressed by the adorable rooms, the fabulous food, service and property in general. Our wedding guests also enjoyed the Mast Farm Inn and especially the delicious breakfast. If you live in a big city and are looking for a getaway with a slower pace, definitely stay in one of their cabins." ~ Newlywednc817, Orlando, Florida
"Here, you can take a step back in time…reconnect with the things that matter in life and the ones you love • The Mast Farm Inn is a "hidden treasure" tucked away in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Valle Crucis North Carolina. Here, you can take a step back in time… take a breath… relax… enjoy real food… go for a walk… get away from it all… reconnect with the things that matter in life and the ones you love… The people at The Mast Farm Inn truly care about their guests. The employees care so much about the Inn and everything it stands for, and you can see how much they enjoy what they do. In the Spring/Summer the garden, the trees, the wildflowers are lush and colorful… in the Fall the leaves are breathtaking and the air is crisp and relaxing… in the winter it’s the perfect place to be snowed in, all cozy with a cup of hot cocoa by the fire. :) A word of advice for when you reach the "Welcome to Valle Crucis" sign…. turn on some bluegrass music and enjoy the drive back in time! :)" ~ RevivalPhotography, Newton, North Carolina
"Wonderful lodging and dining experience • I stayed at the Mast Farm Inn for one night on a Saturday (normally there is a 2-night minimum on the weekend, but if a room is available for a single night, they will do it – just call them). Stayed in the Joe Mast room, which is a wonderful mix of modern comfort and historic farmhouse styling. Bed and A/C were very comfortable in the room, which had 4 big windows and overlooked front corner of house toward garden across the street. The dinner at night in the restaurant was delicious. The crispy duck was perfectly prepared, and they even allowed me to have a trio of ice creams for dessert (that was not on the menu, but they mentioned a cobbler with ice cream and I asked for just the ice cream minus the cobbler… they are very accommodating and offered 3 different flavors, all homemade). Very nice staff, Rebecca was especially delightful.~ NC2Chicago, Lewisville, North Carolina

"Great Meal • The chef will alter offerings to satisfy any diet restrictions and food is organic and fresh, growing many vegetables and herbs onsite." ~ Turbo72014, Watkinsville, Georgia
"Best meal we’ve ever had • We dined at the Mast Farm Inn and truly had the best meal we’ve ever had! The food was truly top notch and cooked to perfection. The dining room was so quaint and made for a wonderfully relaxing meal. I had the crispy duck breast and my fiancé had the roasted pork medallions. I’m a huge fan of duck, but this was definitely the best I’ve ever eaten. We shared a piece of humming bird cake for dessert and it was served with home churned caramel ice cream. We hope to visit again in the near future!" ~ Crystalpalmetto, Lake City, Tennessee
"Amazing • Fantastic evening, the potato cauliflower bisque was amazing. Enjoyed pork tenderloins with cabbage, beans and apple butter that was amazing. My wife had steak with potatoes and green beans. Dinner was topped off with apple crisp with home made caramel ice cream" ~ Rob H, Charlotte, North Carolina
"Big Smiley Face • Incredible food… just incredible… it was so unexpected and, coming from Northern California, I am always surprised when I come across food that meets or exceeds the standards I am used to (No, not being snobby – just is what it is" ~ Renee R, Jacksonville Beach, Florida
"Simply Superb • We stayed at the inn and enjoyed an incredible four course menu at dinner that perfectly matched local ingredients with the superb skills of the chef. Even breakfast here is a gourmet adventure." ~ GringoDave47, New Bern, North Carolina
"Scrumptious in a nice setting • My wife and I went to the Mast Farm Inn after seeing an ad in one of the local mountain magazines and checking out the website. We had been by the place for years, but never stopped in for a meal. I am sorry we have missed it all these years! First, the service…the greeter/seater was warm and friendly, and very knowledgeable about the inn. The waitress was full of information as to how the food was prepared and very helpful. Second, the atmosphere. You are in an old farmhouse that feels warm and inviting. There is a parlor in the front of the house if you have to wait populated by comfortable chairs and a couch. The bar was not attended when we were there, but they sell all kinds of the jams and crockery used in the restaurant. There are two dining rooms, one with a fireplace that keeps the room warm and cozy. Finally the food. The bread, baked by a local bakery, is wonderful and served warm with fig butter and roasted tomato and peach jam. It was a nice touch. We both had the potato-cauliflower soup, which shouldn’t be missed. Served with a couple of rye toast points it was tasty, rich without being cloying. My wife had the braised guinea hen in red wine reduction, superb! I had the fresh vegetable plate which had a variety of locally grown vegetables. The Swiss chard in a crème sauce with Ashe County parmesan was so rich, it offered a nice counterpoint to the freshness of the vegetables. We were so full that we weren’t able to try one of the delectable desserts. More’s the pity. It was a great dining experience and a thoroughly enjoyable meal. We will go back!" ~ Henry S, Stanley, North Carolina
"Excellent Restaurant Too! • You MUST take the opportunity to dine at the Inns Restaurant called Simplicity. It is AMAZING. We did not stay here BUT we ate here on at least three different days during our stay at Valle Crucis Farm. The chef is spectacular, everything is delicious. The Sunday Brunch was so delish! Danielle and her staff are so sweet and accommodating. She can make a mean Daiquiri and my husband loved the "Moonshine". Fabulous food, great history, amazing Innkeeper and staff and a 5 star chef. Thank you for a great time and we will be back for more divine dishes that inspire our taste buds." ~ ZeeRobAlf, Miami, Florida
"Everything was perfect! • Every bite was delicious – we had three incredible breakfasts and one amazing celebratory dinner after our elopement ceremony. The two-course breakfasts were creative and delicious and certainly plenty of food. My husband loved the sweet stuff – the oatmeal with walnuts and apples – and my favorite was the savory goat cheese tart and pimiento cheese grits. So yummy! We ate one dinner while there, and I honestly cannot think of any improvements that could be made – it was perfect. Truly one of the best meals we have ever had, and the perfect end to a perfect day!" ~ Carrie H, Mooresville, North Carolina
"Short and sweet • Hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had! The duck was fabulous! My husband is an avid hunter and I have had duck many ways (never liked it). Chef Andy’s version tasted like filet! I can’t wait to go back! I do send my apologies to the other guests, however, it was a long awaited girls night away from home… I’m sure we disrupted someone’s romantic evening." ~ Lknkapo, Davidson, North Carolina
"All you could ever hope for • From the music, to the wine, to the view and all of the staff. You will be hard pressed to eat a more fantastic meal with as many perks as the Mast Inn has to offer. We ate breakfast twice and dinner once during our 3 day stay. Every meal was better than we could have expected. Incredible menu, excellent service and an atmosphere like none other. Could not recommend more highly." ~ Stephen W, Toccoa Falls, Georgia
"Wonderful meals! • Great chef – Creatively prepared meals – gourmet dinners and bountiful breakfasts! Delicious food, friendly & knowledgeable servers!" ~ Gww3, Atlanta, Georgia
"Beyond Good • Excellent well orchestrated and fabulously presented food with the perfect blend of local flavor and spices. We thoroughly enjoyed every delicious bite! Highly recommend, a must for fine dining. Thank you, we will be back." ~ ZeeRobAlf, Miami, Florida
"Outstanding Meals! • The food at Simplicity at the Mast Farm Inn was outstanding. The chef was excellent … delicious and creative food, wonderful sauces! I’m hungry and would love to eat there again! Too bad I’m 2,500 miles away!" ~ Salisala, Kirkland, WA
"Looking forward to a Thanksgiving treat! • We were exploring the area and wanted a nice casual dinner as a stop. Little we knew that we would find a beautiful inn with one of the most memorable meals we’d had in our lives. From the time we arrived for dinner – without a reservation – we were welcomed, served and entertained to perfection. The ambiance was intimate and casually upscale, with varied background music pleasing our different tastes (I enjoy top 20′s, he is a classical composer – both in our fifties). A. opted for the chef’s daily menu, a nice surprise since he does not eat meat and it certainly accommodated his needs, while I opted for the a la carte items. I am happy to say that our meal was delicious in every possible way: delicate crab cakes on a creamy sweet potato velouté, crunchy bib lettuce salad displayed as a beautiful large rosette, melting in your mouth monkfish, medium rare peppercorn NY strip steak that I could not stop eating :-) with sides as truffled potatoes and deliciously smoked braised Brussels sprouts. We ate every single bite and decided to share a dessert, a sinful liquor infused warm cake with homemade caramel ice cream – just to die for… Needless to say that we are looking forward to going back again soon – just booked a large cabin for Thanksgiving! We are taking my girls – one a well travelled young professional, steak lover, who misses her beloved New Orleans college town and the other an adorable college freshman, avid athlete and vegan. I am sure we will enjoy the beautiful settings and be spoiled rotten with meals to be forever thankful for." ~ Driepstein, Charlotte, NC
"Good food at a historical Bed and Breakfast Inn • My wife and I plus four friends visited the Simplicity during the Boone area Restaurant Small Plate Crawl. We were able to sample many small portions of the dinner menu items because of the crawl. I had the scallop and my wife had the leg of pheasant. Our friends also had the scallop and pheasant. I also had the chocolate cake with ice cream. All of the meals were very good. The pheasant was crispy and tasty. The cake was very good. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is located inside the Mast Farm Inn and is part of a community of families that date back to the early 1800′s. All in all a very good dining experience." ~ DanOHarr, Navarre, FL
"Superb food in a beautifully rustic setting • We visited Simplicity for a friend’s birthday dinner. What a delight. It was hard to choose between the Chef’s Special dinner or the many enticing selections on the menu. I had the duck which was the best I’ve ever had, and it was beautifully presented. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu items and made recommendations that helped us all make our selections. We hope to return on a future visit." ~ Scottr, NW Ohio
"Cozy Dining • Nice atmosphere in the small dining rooms of the main inn. Menu items very unique, creative, and yummy! A pricey menu, but great for a special meal." ~ LJ S, Rougemont, North Carolina
"Unforgettable experience! • We were weekend guests in the Inn. Loved the food, the atmosphere and ambience, the immediate and all-encompassing hospitality, the manicured landscaping, ALL OF IT: there’s nothing about the Mast Farm Inn and Simplicity I couldn’t gush about for as long as anyone would care to listen. I had the duck for dinner never having had duck before in life, and now I want to try more duck! But who am I kidding? No one will prepare it like Chef Andy did! I should just lock it away in my memory and enjoy my photos until we can somehow get back there! (Oh, I TOTALLY take pictures of my food, ESPECIALLY when it looks and tastes this good!) Speaking of being really good… are you standing up? Sit down! I have to tell you about Sunday’s breakfast! After opening with an AMAZING cheese pastry, we were served an Apple-French-Toast-Meets-Bread-Pudding dish that made my wife and I just drop our spoons and gape like ninnies at each other: It was absolutely, ASTONISHINGLY good! SO GLAD WE WENT — CAN’T WAIT TO GO BACK!" ~ Steve R, High Point, North Carolina
"Hidden Gem • My husband and I made reservations for Sunday brunch here while on a tour of the Western North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains. What a treat! We were seated on the quiet patio surrounded by flowers, herbs, and strawberry plants. If there is anything negative about our experience, it was that the morning was quite sunny and warm; a pergola covering would be a nice addition to the outside dining, but perhaps it would not be an authentic addition to the well-preserved historic home? (There is also indoor dining.) We each ordered drinks from a local distillery to accompany a meat-cheese platter from local providers. The shaved pork was wonderful, simply melting in our mouths. (We plan to order from the source some ham for Christmas.) Hearing that the chef was from Louisiana, I ordered the shrimp and grits, which were dream worthy: lightly seasoned and cooked to creamy perfection. My husband’s poached eggs were morning-fresh evidenced by them running orange-yellow on his plate when released from their soft white cocoon. Other items that are noteworthy… The restroom was immaculate and the small, unassuming souvenir shop down the hall was tidy and appropriately appointed. Lodging here I assume would be a delightful experience. There are historic buildings on site, some of which can also be reserved for lodging. Gardens across the road provide some of the fresh fare for the restaurant. We enjoy cooking and fine dining. I cannot say enough good things about the Sunday brunch here. You will not be disappointed." ~ woolythyme, Colorado
"A lovely, romantic evening (with PHEASANT!) • We were staying at the Mast Farm Inn and were so enthralled with the breakfasts that we decided to give a dinner at Simplicity a shot. I have to admit, I’m not much of a fine dining person, but after my dinner at Simplicity, that’s changed. My wife had the NY strip steak, which she said was phenomenal (a huge compliment from her, since she typically refuses to eat a steak outside of Texas). I had the pheasant, which was delicious, and a new thing for me – it was kind of like a cross between turkey and chicken. It was very moist and tender. You can’t miss these two dishes, they’re phenomenal!" ~ writingjackal, Houston, Texas
"Awesome Food • We had Sunday Brunch, breakfast for 6 mornings, and two dinners at the Mast Farm Inn. The food is exceptional. I love Chef Andrew’s price fixed menu as it is different every night. The food is local and from the farm. Dinners are priced right and you will leave very full." ~ 308DavidR, Anderson, South Carolina

"Personal Touch • This is our favorite place for a weekend escape. The staff becomes more like family with each visit. The breakfast alone is worth the trip. We are never ready to leave and we always wish we had booked one more night."
"A Perfect Mountain Getaway • We loved everything about our stay at the Mast Farm Inn. Every detail was accounted for and the service was personal and attentive. And the food was outstanding! It was the perfect getaway!"
"Unexpected • What a fantastic, beautiful surprise this place was! From the setting to the buildings to the staff, service and food it was incredible! It would be my most sincere pleasure to return"
"Second time visit for a laid back romantic weekend • My wife and I spent our 24th Anniversary in the Woodworkers Cottage. Very private and quiet cottage with a small living room and kitchenette. We watched two old movies that we have wanted to see. My wife loved a hot bubble bath in the old tub. The bed was very comfortable and cozy. We remember the food being very good from our trip here 5 years ago but we did not remember it being this good. It was absolutely delicious. We are planning on coming back next year"
"Perfect Elopement • We just eloped at the Mast Farm Inn and had an amazing time. We were completely charmed by the historic home and romantic Gazebo cottage where we stayed. "Lovely, charming and fine food… A romantic get away • Mast Farm Inn exceeded all our expectations… simply charming, romantic and the food was A+ locally grown and cooked to perfection! Service was outstanding, staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Loved the touch of coffee being served in the morning in a picnic basket. European flair… Thank you for a wonderful, romantic, delicious evening :-)"
"Great fall getaway • Spent a fall weekend here (we spent last time in the spring). The people are wonderful and the leaves added to it. Chef actually went out of his way to serve gluten-free meals (my wife also has lots of food allergies). Just an awesome place – Danielle is amazing!"
"Relaxing visit! • The Inn is lovely and the staff is fabulous – especially Rebecca and Danielle, the Innkeeper. PROS: Rooms are very comfortable and thoughtfully decorated – antiques, pretty fabrics, etc… Ours was quite large, bright and sunny with a nice sitting area. Staff goes out of their way to accommodate your needs, provide helpful information about the area, etc. Restaurant is absolutely fabulous with gourmet dinners and bountiful breakfasts. Property is very nice – Historic home & rustic cottages on one side of the road; along with newer cottages up a hill. Beautiful gardens, barn and farm across the road; CONS: Inn sits right on the road and traffic varied from none to a lot, As Inn is an historic building,, it can be noisy – road noise and other guests. Cottages offer more quiet and more privacy"
"A Delightful Way to Relax and Unwind! • We had a fabulous time! I’d heard so much about the Mast Farm Inn from numerous friends who have stayed there that I had to stay there when I discovered that my travels were taking me to North Carolina. I love historic old buildings, so it was a thrill getting to stay in one of the rooms in the Inn. I didn’t get a chance to look into the cottages and other outbuildings, but they looked wonderful, too. I loved the antiques in my room. The bed was very comfortable and they had a lot of very nice touches when we arrived. Because this is an old building, the walls aren’t well insulated and the floors sometimes "creak." There is no elevator, so if you’re on the 3rd floor, you’ll have to climb the stairs with your luggage. There is no TV, which was fine with me! They also have a Wi-Fi in the Inn; not sure if it reaches to the cottages or not, though. It’s a pretty slow connection. Cell phone coverage (I have AT&T) was very poor ("No Service" or one bar). But this is why you come here, right? To relax, explore and get away from all the technology. Each room is different, which is fun! My room faced the street, but it didn’t matter to me; the view across to the barn was beautiful. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and also very professional. I really appreciated their following up before my trip and afterwards. We took a lovely walk past the barn to the stream. The whole setting was very bucolic. The chef was outstanding, too. We had a wonderful dinner… the appetizers looked so good that instead of a main entree, I ordered several appetizers. I loved the way he did a fusion of Southern cooking with a contemporary flair, using locally sourced food. We had a wonderful time exploring the surrounding area."
"Bucolic getaway • Spent three days and nights in the Blacksmith’s cottage. This was a spur-of-the-moment trip and exceeded our expectations for the comfort, relaxation, and the generous and varied breakfasts and a fine dining dinner. Staff are attentive and smiling and helpful. Even Oby (the Inn cat) was tolerant of our ear-scratching. We will come again."
"Beyond Amazing! • My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing brunch and Sunday night stay with Mast Farm Inn. The property is amazing, the farmhouse is beautiful, and the staff are kind and courteous. We had the pleasure of rooming in the Gazebo Cottage. The cabin exceeded our wildest expectations in comfort and beauty!!! The porch with the swing and rockers is where we spent the majority of our time. We also appreciated the classic movies provided as we did not leave the cabin once we checked in. We really enjoyed unwinding with How Green Was My Valley and Jezebel, something we rarely have time for in the real world. The brunch and the breakfast provided were so delicious! Honestly, I would recommend Mast Farm Inn wholeheartedly for an all-around great experience. We left there fully rested, relaxed, restored, and rejuvenated! Can’t wait to go back for another beyond amazing experience!"
"Quiet Escape in Rustic Surroundings • We celebrated our 30th anniversary at Mast Farm Inn. We started with Sunday brunch. Fresh eggs, ginger & sage sausage, pork belly and onion croissant, smoked gouda grits and a light and flaky Pepper Jack cheesy biscuit. My wife had raisin pecan pain perdue with sorghum pecan syrup. Mostly local farm grown or produced. After brunch, I surprised Linda having surreptitiously brought her wedding dress along. The rooms was bright and cozy with a big comfy bed. All very nicely appointed for a restored country inn. Rustic, quiet, relaxing with cheerful, welcoming staff. If you are looking to escape, this is the place!"
"Refined Simplicity • My husband and I stayed in the Gazebo cabin for our anniversary weekend. This was our third time at the Mast Farm Inn. We both love the serenity this place offers… it is such a peaceful place with beautiful gardens, smells and sounds (mainly birds and rustling sound of trees). We hung out on the balcony sipping wine and taking in the nature around us. The staff is awesome… super friendly, helpful and respectful of your wishes! Danielle, is always willing to go the extra mile to accommodate your requests. The food is excellent… they strive to serve fresh, locally grown foods and it is delicious! To me, The Mast Farm is a place to recharge your body and mind. I highly recommend it!"
"A wonderful, special place! • My wife and I stayed here for the second time recently. It is a lovely inn in a lovely location, and the staff is A+."
"We consider it our home away from home! • We have stayed at the Mast Farm In for over a decade, visiting for the fair in the Fall as well as horse shows in Banner Elk. Always a lovely experience. The Deschamps family has always welcomed us with open arms, making us feel at home with friends. NPL"
"I Would Stay Again • My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at the Mast Farm Inn. We spent the entire week in the Woodwork Shop. The room is very nice, private and right next to the creek so you can listen to running water at night. I gave the room a 3 because it was what I expected for the price. Same is true for my marking for Value. This is not an inexpensive place to stay; we received great service, and the Inn staff and accommodations are exceptional. I expect that for the cost. Danielle, the Innkeeper is extremely friendly and makes you feel at home. We went caving and our clothes were covered in mud. We washed them in the creek next to our room and hung them on nails on the porch. It was quite the site. Danielle loved it. Lorraine made our reservations and served as the concierge. She did an exceptional job of setting up our caving and rafting trip, horseback riding, zip lining, and everything else we asked her to do. Rebecca works the desk and is an absolute delight. Chef Andrew is amazing, as is Danielle when it comes to food at the Inn. The breakfasts are delicious and filling. We had Sunday brunch, evening room service and two dinners at the Inn on top of breakfast each morning. The food is excellent and you will leave stuffed to the gills. We enjoyed that there is no TV, only old classic videos to watch. We spent the week enjoying the tranquil quiet of the Inn. The staff emphasizes simplicity and that is exactly what you get. As you can see from above, there are a ton of activities in the area including trout fishing. If you are looking for a fantastic, quite, stress free experience, this is the place."
"Most relaxing weekend ever! • Perfect place to disconnect electronically and just enjoy each other’s company, Located in a very quiet area yet very close to the local activities and attractions. Our place was a lovely, rustic cabin yet it had nice amenities including a jetted tub, fireplace, comfy bedding and a creek right outside our cabin! We loved the front porch with rocking chairs and feeling included in the Farm while still having our own little place. We can’t wait to visit again!"
"WOOOOWA!!! • Let me say it again; WOOOOWA!!! Extraordinary place. Words don’t even begin to explain or describe how GREAT this place is. The location, up in the mountains is mind blowing. The space within the main house is really your own space. It gives you the feeling that your the only person on the premises and the staff go above and beyond to make it very personable. My fiancé and I arrived at 11 o’clock at night and we were greeted with a note and a key to main house so we could get to our room. Before we could even sleep we read all the little notes on the bed, notes on the dresser. It was such a delight, it made our rest that night even more comfortable. The next morning we toured the grounds. The air was so fresh and the skies were so clear. It was just beautiful. We went to have breakfast and since my fiancé and I are vegan the chef cook something special for us. It was so delicious and i was able to get some of the leftovers that were in the kitchen. Also had a really nice breakfast conversation with some other guest and they were just as helpful in giving us tons of ideas of place to go and things to do. Everyone was great! This place will not disappoint. This is now apart of our extended family. We will be creating a lot more memories at this place."
"Quick stay at the farm • My brother and I stayed at the Mast Farm inn and enjoyed every bit of it. Nice staff, nice rooms and in the middle of a very quiet area."
"Memorable visit for our 25th anniversary! • We loved the Mast Farm inn! Danielle, Lorraine and the others were so nice and helpful! They made it a priority for us to feel at home and took the time to talk to us as if we were family! I loved the special attention to detail, such as the personalized menu’s that greeted us each morning with the awesome breakfast! We will definitely visit this inn again!"
"Weekend visit • A delightful bucolic setting for a relaxing getaway. Everyone in our party vowed to make a return visit before this year is over."
"Our Dream Wedding ~ Realized! • My husband and I were married at The Mast Farm Inn last Monday; we then spent an additional three days there for our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived everyone felt like family; we felt right at home. The food was delightful. We especially enjoyed the daily breakfast. The vanilla wedding cake with cream cheese frosting was the best we ever tasted, and the drunken fruit pound cake was TRULY addictive! (In fact, we are thinking of ordering several for Christmas gifts this year!) The master bed in the Granary Cabin was the most comfortable we ever slept in. The in-room old timey radio programs were a wonderful touch; we had great fun listening to the radio in front of the fireplace with a bottle of wine. Rebecca, one of the staff, was wonderfully calm during a power outage Sunday night (the mountains suffered unseasonably heavy rains all week; an auto accident nearby caused a two-hour power outage all along Broadstone Rd). Rebecca, however, made everyone in the main house feel safe, calm, and entertained until the lights came back on. We loved the personalized menus at breakfast every morning, and the in-room notes every afternoon; it was such a unique touch. Most of all we loved the services of Danielle, who is one of the innkeepers, as well as being our wedding planner. We told her we wanted a simple, old-fashioned, stress free wedding, and that is indeed what she delivered. (Emphasis on the "stress-free": it was heavenly!) Danielle truly gave us the wedding of our dreams. Highly recommended; in fact, we are planning to go back next year for our 1-year anniversary!"
"Wonderful Weekend • My wife and I stayed in the Woodwork Shop and thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing weekend. Highly recommended and we’ll be returning. World class chef as well!"
"Keeps calling us back! • My husband and I spent our honeymoon here nearly 17 years ago and have returned several times for memorable visits. This most recent visit was a “just because” weekend. We treasure our mountain getaways and stay in a cozy room in the farmhouse. Be aware they use feather pillows so let them know if you are allergic as they are very responsive to requests. We thought the rate was a little high at first, but it ended up that the friendly staff, the personalized touches, the yummy Sunday breakfast of layered French toast, and the beautiful surroundings, was well worth the cost. We have visited other B&Bs but The Mast Farm Inn keeps calling us back"
"Blueridge warmth & comfort • After a long day’s travel from California, we arrived at the Mast Farm Inn to find our cabin ready with a warm fire awaiting us along with cupcakes and a warm welcome by the staff. The beds were so comfortable and ample with comforters and wonderful linens. The meals in the main house were also some of the best we have had in a cozy setting reminiscent of times past when mouthwatering, home cooked food was the best to be had. If we had any need, the staff was ready and eager to fill that. Two thumbs up for the Mast Farm Inn!"
"A Vacation to remember • My wife and I spent three nights in the Loom House. We were treated like royalty. Unique experience, unbelievable meals and great service. Awesome place!"
"A Wonderful Weekend! • My partner and I spent a weekend in the Loom House and it was amazing! The attention to detail and the personal touches that they made made the weekend unforgettable. Our breakfast menus were personalized with our names and personalized cards were waiting for us in our cabin. The staff was attentive, the Inn was beautiful and our stay was fantastic! We will definitely stay with them again very soon! Wendy and Christine"
"A unique and relaxing experience! • This was our second visit, and we can’t wait to return! Each room is spotless and unique. For fun we hope to try a new room each time we go! Feels like a home away from home, and the surroundings are beautiful. Yummy breakfast included. When in the area why stay anywhere else?"
"Extraordinary Valentine’s Day! • We stayed in the Granary. What a lovely experience! Then there was sitting in the parlor sipping a shot of Junior Johnson’s moonshine (legal) while waiting to be seated at a magnificent Valentine’s dinner. Breakfast had the fluffiest pancakes I have ever eaten. We shall return!"
"Bring the Kids • We recently completed a five night stay with our three kids, and stayed in the Granary. Plenty of space and the maid service was excellent (kids make such a mess). The kids really enjoyed the animals and the staff was more than happy to show the kids around the farm and help them feed the animals. The only downside I can mention is that it didn’t snow, but I guess that the staff can’t control that. Good job guys!"
"Very Pleased • Was very pleased with our stay, dinning is great and accommodation are excellent Will definitely stay again"
"Truly five stars! • What a great stay! Enjoyed every minute!"
"Very nice with EXCELLENT Service • My wife and I loved our visit. They went out of their way to make sure we got what we wanted. We had a death in the family and they went out of their way to help make changes to our reservations. I would definitely recommend The Mast Farm Inn to anyone thinking about staying there."
"Excellent Stay • We found our stay at Mast Farm to be excellent. We look forward to returning soon."
"A beautiful place • We stayed in the charming Loom House,an original cabin. It was a trifle dark inside because of course nobody puts big windows in 19th century log cabins. I’d up the wattage in the lights if possible. But very very pretty & comfortable. The food was excellent but the multiple course meals were actually too much food. We started asking for various items to be skipped, which worked better for us. Very nice helpful staff! I’d certainly book again"
"5 Stars in every way… • This was by far the best Bed and Breakfast my husband and I have ever been to. From the minute we walked in,
