The Mast Farm Inn & Over Yonder have designed the Valle Crucis Winter Weekends program to contribute to our Western North Carolina High Country community & non-profit organizations. The series which runs over ten weekends in January, February, and March of 2015 enables us to promote North Carolina classics, foods, spirits, craft beer, and wine, and their local suppliers, while providing us all the opportunity to give back to local non-profit organizations.

For each of the ten winter weekends in the program, five percent of our total income for the weekend (Thursday, Friday & Saturday), at both The Mast Farm Inn and Over Yonder, will be donated to the local non-profit being featured that weekend. We stress that the proceeds will be calculated from the total income at both companies for the weekend, and not just from sales of the featured services, items & products presented here.

The Valle Crucis Winter Weekends Lodging Packages • The lodging packages are priced at our absolute lowest rates, which are the Teacher’s Rates you see at www.themastfarminn.com/teachers-rates The one price rates you see there are for both nights, and not a per night price.

Featured High Country Non-Profit
Watauga Riverkeeper • Our mission is to protect and restore the communities, water quality, and ecological health of the watershed. The Watauga Riverkeeper is a program of the Western North Carolina Alliance and serves as the primary watchdog and spokesperson for the Elk and Watauga Rivers. They run from their headwaters on Grandfather mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina to the dam at foot of Watauga Lake in east Tennessee. With a combination of policy advocacy, scientific research, and community collaboration, the Alliance and its chapters throughout Western North Carolina unleash the power of citizens’ voices to protect the natural heritage of our region, so that people and the environment can thrive. | Website | FaceBook |

Featured North Carolina Supplier
Sunburst Trout Farms • Third generation family owned and operated trout farm. Purveyor of gourmet trout fillets, caviar, and many other fine trout products. Dick Jennings loved his Grandfather’s land in Western North Carolina, covered with forests of oak, hickory, maple, and poplar, watered with two rushing streams, and with 100 acres of reasonably flat land that could be cleared. It was 1931 when Dick first walked these streams. He wasn’t barefoot, but his cheeks were tanned, and he was carrying a Prince Albert can of worms. This was unique compelling stuff for a little boy raised in Pittsburgh, compelling enough to bring the young veteran of WWII back to these mountains in 1948 to start the first commercial trout farm in the South. This meant ignoring his deceased Father’s advice, "Don’t stay in these mountains, you’ll starve", and it also meant dropping out of the Yale School of Engineering, where, until then, he had been an honor student. These imprudent acts were, to some extent, vindicated in the year 2001, when Dick Jennings was inducted into the Western North Carolina Agricultural Hall of Fame. Thus, the Sunburst Trout Company was born. | Website | FaceBook | Twitter | Pinterest | InstaGram |

Featured North Carolina Spirit
Covington Spirits • Out here in rural eastern North Carolina we are good stewards of the land. After all, we grow, harvest and deliver delicious sweet potatoes to dinner tables all over the world. Recently, and after a lot of thought, we decided to try our hand at creating a great vodka made from the fruits of our own labor — so to speak. As it turns out, sweet potatoes (ipomoea batatas) make an excellent vodka — and why not — folks have been making potato vodka for the past 300 years. COVINGTON® gourmet vodka is handmade locally from seedling to bottling. It’s expertly crafted in small batches using a combination of traditional and modern distilling practices. Our unhurried approach and varietal selection of locally grown COVINGTON® sweet potatoes costs us a little more, however, it does create truly outstanding vodka. | Website | FaceBook | Twitter |

Featured North Carolina Beer
Fullsteam Brewery • Fullsteam is a Durham, North Carolina production brewery and tavern inspired by the food and farm traditions of the South. Our mission: to pioneer the art of Distinctly Southern Beer. We brew traditional and experimental beers with a Southern sensibility, often incorporating local farmed goods, heirloom grains, and seasonal botanicals to guide our beer and our quest. The more we buy local, the more we directly improve the quality of life of North Carolina farmers, foragers, and agricultural entrepreneurs. We seek no less than to build a Southern Beer Economy…one pint at a time. | Website | FaceBook | Twitter | InstaGram |

Featured North Carolina Wine
Raffaldini Vineyards & Winery • The fusion of family, food and wine is an integral part of our daily life. For more than six hundred and fifty years, the Raffaldini family has witnessed many historic events and has often marked such occasions with special family dinners and homemade Italian wine. The Raffaldini family made a decision to share our centuries-old wine experience with the New World. After a long and exhaustive search for land that would reflect this experience, Raffaldini Vineyards was established in the Swan Creek area of the Yadkin Valley. From this vineyard, we handcraft our Italian wines; wines that express not only their “sense of place”, but also utilize winemaking skills that have been refined throughout the ages. | Website | FaceBook | Twitter |
