It’s always a treat to stumble across a beautifully curated collection of hand crafted jewellery gathered from places scattered near and far on the map.
ApacheRoseLondon.com is one such online collection and was founded in 2012 by north London jewellery junkie Anna Burke after her world travels inspired her to create a platform to showcase emerging British talent such as Alice Menter and Anabel Campbell as well as international brands such as the Israeli Mutrah.
Anna lives in Willesden Green; an area with a young creative community, and loves scouring Portobello for vintage and Native American finds, particularly Jessie Western.
She is often found ambling around Shoreditch where her husband’s art studio is based, or getting inspired at Monsters of Art – a new street art gallery on Mill Lane in West Hampstead.
It was brand A Peace Treaty that really caught my eye on perusing the designs. It was the 360 rope bangles that did it – I’ve always been a fan of accessories that incorporate a little bit of rope without looking nautical. It’s just very beautiful stuff that is somewhat underused. So it was a delight to see the hand crafted rope bangles with a clear tube half wrapped with yellow thread encasing jute braided rope and a mounted turquoise stone.
Even better is the back story to the brand. Anna met the founders – Farah Malik, a Pakistani Muslim, and Dana Arbib, a Libyan Jewon – on her travels to the Middle East. The resulting partnership now employs skilled artisans in different regions of political strife to create limited edition designs, hence A Peace Treaty. Definitely a brand to watch.
