Pop Star Selena Gomez revealed from her official Instagram post that she underwent a Kidney transplant. She was with her best friend in the hospital who donated the organ.
She also revealed that she had lupus diagnosis in 2015 and took a break from her career last year to deal with anxiety, panic attacks, and depression while battling with the disease. Lupus is an autoimmune disease. In normal condition, our body recognises and destroys foreign objects like bacteria and viruses but with autoimmune diseases, the immune system starts to attack objects which are not foreign. In lupus, the immune system produces an excess of proteins called antibodies that attack themselves to various structures in the body.
The cause of the lupus is still unknown but symptoms can include bloody and foamy urine, weight gain, high blood pressure or swelling in the legs, ankles or around the eyes.
