Why did you decide to design bridal gowns?
I always wanted to make clothes especially dresses. My mum taught me to sew when I was little and from then on I was either making clothes for my barbie dolls or for myself when I got a bit older. I knew that I wanted to do something in the fashion industry so after high school I did a bachelor of design with a fashion major at Massey University in Wellington. I didn’t know I wanted to do Bridal wear until I got married myself just after finishing uni. I made my own wedding dress as well as my friends who was getting married around the same time as me. I loved the fact that I could make something different from the standard dresses I saw in the bridal stores. From there I made more friends wedding dresses and loved it so much I decided that this was exactly what I wanted to do with my career. So I started Sally Eagle Bridal .
What makes your bridal gowns different?
I love very soft and floaty fabrics and think a dress should move beautifully when you walk. My dresses are easy to wear while still looking elegant and flattering. I would say I have a vintage theme going on with the lace and detailing but like using more modern dress shapes that are the most flattering for the body. I also like to make the back of the dress just as beautiful as the front.

How would you describe your signature style?
Soft and floaty with a touch of vintage detailing. You could call it modern vintage but that does sound like a contradiction.
What types of brides tend to love your wedding gowns?
A bride who likes a classic timeless dress but with hint of fun.

What are some trends you see for 2014/ 2015?
Sparkle! I feel like beaded laces are going to be popular this coming season.
What is the number one thing brides should look for when shopping for a gown?
That the overall shape of the dress is flattering for their body shape.
Sally Eagle Marigold
What is the biggest mistake brides tend to make when buying gowns?
They may have seen a dress in a magazine on a model who is not the same shape as them, and want the dress to look the same on them as it does on the model.
What is your favourite style of bridal gown?
I love skirts that are gathered or pleated at the waist and are full but in a soft fabric that is very drapey, teamed with a fitted bodice. It also has to have some lace on it of course!

What celebrity do you think got it totally right on her wedding day? Why?
Kate Moss, such a beautiful gown, it was a simple shape that flattered her body and the beading gave it some extra dazzle.
