Another high point in the Indian public is truly excited about is an event to be aired on radio, in which the Prime Minister of Iindia Narendra Modi and the US President, Mr Barack Obama will share their thoughts together on the next episode of “Mann ki Baat” on All India Radio, to be aired on 27 January, 2015. Narendra Modi has been appraising people about this chat through his twitter handle and other media. “This month’s `Mann Ki Baat` episode will be a special one, where our Republic Day guest President Barack Obama and I will share our thoughts together. I am eagerly looking forward to the special ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, with Obama, which will be aired Jan 27,” said an official statement from the prime minister.

Mr. Modi has so far addressed three such episodes, on Oct 3, Nov 2 and Dec 14, last year. The previously aired half-hour episodes featured Modi speaking in a chatty manner to listeners about how to better society. He also recounts suggestions from listeners on his portal – mygov.in or through letters – on how to improve services. Mr. Obama is no stranger to radio addresses, as he himself addresses a weekly one from the White House. In the US, the radio address was begun by president Calvin Coolidge, the 30th president, who had his inauguration broadcast on radio and later also delivered a presidential address on radio.

Almost every Friday, President Obama retreats into a quiet chamber of the White House – most often the Map Room or Roosevelt Room – and sits before the microphones and a video camera for several minutes. He will reflect on the past week. He may wish you a happy holiday. Sometimes, the address is jovial, other times somber, says the Boston Globe in a report.   If reports in the Indian media are to be believed, Narendra Modi is likely to gift as much as 100 Benarasi saris and silk dress material to the First Lady. Notably Michelle Obama has worn Jacquard silk at several international events.

So keeping in mind the fact that the US first lady has always liked silk dresses and has worn creations by international names such as Tracy Resse, Naeem Khan and Alexander McQueen, special Banarasi silk sarees and Banarasi dress material of the finest quality will be brought down for Michelle Obama from Varanasi, the house specialty of weavers of exquisite jacquard silk in India.

The first couple was to visit the Taj Mahal, an architectural marvel and the symbol of eternal love that has withstood the travails of time through centuries. The plan has been changed, however owing to the change in the first couples travel plans. They shall be heading to Saudi Arabia following the death of King Abdullah. In an official statement, the White House said President Obama “regrets” the cancellation of the trip.

The mood in India is upbeat, the second visit of the U.S. President (Obama India Trip 2015)within a short span, is an optimistic sign for healthier ties, long term friendship and positive exchanges ahead.
