The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi showed his condolence towards those families who lose their lives as a result of bus accident in East Godavari district of AP . He said the incident is quite unfortunate. He expressed his feeling in a popular networking site known as Twitter. There was the death of 22 pilgrims. The bus was travelling across the Godavari river in Andhra Pradesh. The PM tweeted:”Loss of lives due to a bus accident in East Godavari district, AP (Andhra Pradesh) is saddening and unfortunate. My deepest condolences.”

The incident occurred near Rajahmundry town . In this town, the vehicle turned off the road. The bus fell near Dowleswaram barrage in the early morning of Saturday. The victims of the accident were nine women and six children. They live in Achutapuram village. This village is located at Visakhapatnam district. The victims were coming back home. They had gone for a pilgrimage to Tirupati.  The bus fell into Godavari river when it struck at railing of Sir Arthur Cotton barrage at Dowleswaram in Andhra Pradesh. As per the report of DSP Rajahmundry Urban, Ambika Prasad, 23 people were on their way to home after their pilgrimage. They were coming from Tirupati to Achyuthapuram, which is located in Visakhapatnam district.

The primary information according to a police on the accident site was a group of people on their way from Tirupati was visiting the temple. The vehicle driver may have fallen off. He had hit a wall of the bridge. Then the vehicle fell down from 30 feet on a concrete slab. This slab was us to protect the barrage from breaking down by heavy floods. But the water-level is quite shallow. The vehicle had passengers who fell in deep asleep. They died on the spot. The fishermen near the accident site called police. The police took over the rescue operation.

This accident had only 2 victims as survivors, one girl and another boy. The girl recovered from her injuries. She is getting medical treatment at a hospital run by the government. About 4 hours, the victim had to wait for help from the locals and police. Only E. Kiran Kumar survived in the accident.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy had a chief minister and Home Minister, N. Chinna Rajappa and Rajahmundry Urban SP named S. Harikrishna quickly went to the spot and then creat.

Chinna Rajappa said, “The mishap might have occurred as the driver was sleepy and was driving at high speed.”

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu condoled the death and ordered a probe.

YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy expressed shock and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of 22 pilgrims, terming the incident “saddening and unfortunate”.

After the investigation, it was found that the driver of the vehicle had lost control.

PM Modi showed condolence for the death of 22 people who went to pilgrimage. There were seven children. It occurred near Rajahmundry. Rajahmundry is a major city in Andhra Pradesh. On the banks of Godavari river, this city is situated. This city has an area of 22 sq km. with a population of 315,251 as per census 2001. In the coastal Andhra region, there is a district known as East Godavari district. This district has the highest population i.e. 5,151,549. The district headquarter is Kakinada. This district is also known as the Rice Bowl of Andhra Pradesh. The area of this East Godavari District is 10.807 square km. Around this district, there are Vishakapatnam district, Malkangiri district of Orissa, Khammam District on the Northwest, the Bay of Bengal on the east and south, As per 2011 census, the population of East Godavari District is 51,51,549. There is a good connection of rail, road, air and water at East Godavari District. In the district, there are rail stations at Rajamudry, Tuni and Samalkot. There are universities like Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada. There is medical college like Rangaraya Medical college in Kakinad and SK college of nursing.

The tourist attractions of East Godavari District are temples like Annavaram, Antharvedi, Draksharamam, Kotipalli, Pithapuram, Rajamundry, Samalkota. In Kakinada, there is a coring wildlife sanctuary. At Dowleswaram, there is Sir Arthur Cotton Museum. You can find ecotourism projects at Muredumilli Rampa. The most popular temple is Muni Thalupulamma Lova.

The primary occupation of the district is fishery, plywood unit, sugar factory, paper mill, sugar and biofuel plants. People are engaged mostly with agriculture and aquaculture.

We are proud to have reputed singer M. Balamuralikrishna, P B Srinivas, Adurthi Subba Rao, C. Pullaiah, actress Jaya Prada from this East Godavari District. We are also proud to have Durgabhai Deshmukh who was a freedom fighter from this district.

The literacy rate of East Godavari District is 71.35% as per 2011 census, which was 65.48% in 2001. In 2011 census, the population density is 477. According to 2011 census, the sex ratio is 1005 per 1000 males, but in 2001, it was 1993. But the national sex ratio of 2011 census was 940.

Therefore, Sri Narendra Modi showed condolence to the victims of East Godavari district. The road safety should be improved. We should pray for the families of those victims so that they recover from this shock. The road safety should be increased in Andhra Pradesh. We are deeply saddened by this incident and wish the minister of roadways must take care of the safety of roads of our country.
