Family Guy is heading to the iPhone and iPad – and Android devices – in 2014 in a new simulation game from the team behind The Simpsons: Tapped Out. The new game will be set in Quahog, feature all our favorite characters from the show, and will be free-to-play with in-game 'microtransactions' financing things according to Gamespot:

Andrew Green, TinyCo.'s head of business developer and business operations, told GameSpot that the new Family Guy game, like so many other free-to-play games, will be supported by various in-app purchases. These microtransactions will allow players to "control the speed of their progression," Green said, suggesting players will be able to unlock content right away by spending real-world money.

While it's not clear if the game will feature actual voiceover work from the cast, Seth McFarlane, Mila Kunis, Alex Borstein and Seth Green are all reportedly collaborating on the project, and the developers are working alongside the show's writers to create the story. So, it looks like we could be in for a pretty authentic Family Guy experience.

Despite the nickel-and-dime approach of The Simpsons: Tapped Out, the game has become a massive success, and so it's entirely understandable that TinyCo. would follow the same path for their next project. We'll have to wait and see just what does come our way, but as a fan of the show I'm already interested. How about you?
