Expect to see some glitter showing up on SNL this year!

Congratulations to Julio Torres on being signed to one of the most sought after writing jobs in comedy. Torres will join the Saturday Night Live writing staff for Season 42. Torres has been a guest writer on the show at least once this past year, and was spotted hanging with cast members Jay Pharoah, and Sasheer Zamata at New York’s Comic Strip Live back in May.

Julio is a Brooklyn-based comedian and comedian, self-professed telepath and “Space Prince” from El Salvador.  He’s full of glitter and rainbows and platinum white hair and we love him. We caught Julio performing at the People’s Improv Theater earlier this year and were blown away with Julio’s originality and stage presence. You can spot him performing all over New York City- he’s in our live show listings column almost every week- and he’s beloved among New York comedy performers and fans.

Torres has been on the national radar for quite some time now. He’s been named a Comedy Central “Comic to Watch” and was named to Montreal’s “New Face of Comedy” in 2015. You’ve also seen his him on “The Chris Gethard Show”, “Billy on the Street”, Louis C.K.’s “Horace and Pete” and scored a Snapchat series this year, “Messages From the Future.”

Julio has written and starred in two series for Más Mejor, “Diego & Valentina” and “Pre-Fall Fashion Olympics” which you can watch below. Expect Mas Mejor’s star to be on the rise, because Torres is the second comedian from the Mas Mejor stable to join the team at Saturday Night Live this year.  It’s no surprise that Lorne’s paying attention to what they’re doing over there– Más Mejor is Broadway Video’s premium comedy studio powered by Latino voices. The studio cultivates Latino comedic talent and creates premium comedy content that is distributed through a network of Más Mejor branded channels and top-tier digital and social platforms.

Hopefully SNL won’t keep him behind the scenes too long, because he’s too beautiful to be kept off camera!
