I’m sure today’s master bedroom and en suite by Highgate House will make you swoon. From the perfect colour palette to the custom joinery, marble bathroom and wow factor side tables, it’s pretty special.

The clients, a young family, wanted their inner city Brisbane property to feel like an American home, having spent a lot of time in the States. “Because we started almost from scratch, we could achieve exactly the look that they were after,” says interior designer Leigh Boswell.

“I really love every part of these two spaces, in particular the pendant light we sourced, which couldn’t have been better with the coffered ceilings. The bed and the bedsides are really to die for too.

“The drapes and valance, although simple, are perfect in their balance and detail. The trim on the valance and the tiebacks made these drapes special.”

Leigh says it helped that the client put their absolute trust in her and her team. “This always makes for a better outcome,” she adds. “Most of our work is custom or ordered from photos in a catalogue so you certainly need an element of trust.”

Highgate House selected all the finishes, wall colour and carpet for the stunning bedroom, also sourcing the bed, bedside tables (divine!), lamp bases and scatter cushions. The window seat joinery, inverted pleat valance and drapes were all custom made. The client purchased the bedding from Restoration Hardware on a recent trip to the States.

“The ensuite is classic with rich marble benches and bath surrounds and classic taupe coloured floor tiles with white subway wall tiles. The custom hand painted joinery plays a huge part in this room,” Leigh says. “Crystal handles on the taps and the feature wall lights give the touch of elegance and the roman blind and accessories complete the look.”

The very happy clients recently went overseas and despite staying in top hotels, couldn’t wait to get back to their own beautiful bedroom! It’s no surprise Leigh and her team are now furnishing the rest of this house so let’s hope we get to see more rooms soon. I’ve been watching Leigh’s gorgeous work for some time, after meeting her at a trade fair last year. I’m pleased to say she is as lovely as she is talented. See more of her work at her website.
