Move over makeup blending sponges and brushes, ladies! The new revolutionary product that has taken the beauty market by storm is a clear silicone ‘sponge’ applicator- the new Silisponge by Molly Cosmetics! Read on for the deets!
So while we all love our beauty blender and have our favorite brushes that we swear by, every now and then, we see a new entrant in the market. Some are dupes of the originals. Some take the innovation one step ahead (like the Oval brushes), but every once in a while, you see a completely new product which wows you. The Silisponge, I think, falls in the latter category.
Silisponge is a clear chunk of silicone, wrapped in a clear casing, and looks like a huge water droplet at first glance. It seems to be flexible to use too. The best part though, is that it absorbs zero product. Product absorption by regular sponges and brushes is one thing which everyone hates since that is basically like seeing your product go waste. But the Silisponge seems to have done away with this problem since it does not absorb any product. Also, since it is a clear applicator, you can actually see through it and check on the application underneath. And since there’s no product absorption, cleaning this applicator is a child’s play. Just drop some brush cleanser on it and rinse it under water. Such a boon for profesional MUAs too- so easy to sanitise and switch between clients without wastage! Also, this seems to be a more eco-friendly method since there are no sponges being thrown away frequently.
On first glance, though, the product seems to be meant for liquid and cream products. Not sure how it will work with powders.
The price? Well, it is just under Rs. 1000 and comes with free international shipping from their site, though it seems to be out of stock right now due to very high demand!

This vid is just to give you a brief idea (which I’m sure you already know), when this silicone sponge doesn’t ‘eat’ product and how your product is going to last for longer! S I L I S P O N G E * Use very very little product and that’s the key! * Use circular motion to spread and tab to blend and settle . Wasting products is history now cos, of course, it doesn’t soak in a thing! Tried it today, and the foundation needed is literally just half the amount compared to directly using brush or sponge. Spreading product with it will take some getting used to, final blending can always be finished with oval brush or usual sponge (for example beautyblender), that means washing the oval brush or the sponge will be minimized and they will last a whole lot longer. It is ideal for people who don’t like messy fingers during makeup. AND I bet you can imagine cleaning THIS APPLICATOR will literally take no more effort than rubbing it with a little soap and rinsing with some luke warm water. If you are a professional makeup artist, can you imagine how exciting it is that you can use it on one client/model, clean it with a makeup remover and sanitizing spray, and then you can use it on another client/model immediately just like that? Throwing away disposable sponge can totally be minimized!!!! This picture was taken AFTER i used it and wiped it twice on the back of my hand, it is close to absolutely no trace of product left on it. Let me source it and sell it on MC! .
