Greenpop. - Before I run off and walk for those penguins, I wanted to send a reminder to all about the Platbos Reforest Festival in May. I’m going to the Friend’s Fest and can’t wait. Have a look at my post from last year’s Fest here.

‘For the 5th year running, Greenpop will host two festivals in the ancient Platbos Forest. These are festivals with a difference – Greenpop brings people together to plant thousands of trees, dance to awesome live music, listen to interesting talks, enjoy great food and more.

The Reforest Fest is held over two weekends in May in the Platbos Forest. The first is the Platbos Family Fest on 8 to 10 May and the next the Platbos Friends Fest on 15 to 17 May 2015. As the names suggest, the Family Fest is aimed towards families with children of all ages, music end at about 10:30pm on the Saturday night and activities are tailored towards connecting families and children with nature. The Friends Fest is a bit more of a party on the Saturday night and slightly different activities and talks on the Sunday.’

“The most exciting thing about this annual event to me is the community that comes together to celebrate. The event has grown stronger year on year, in terms of numbers and trees planted. Being on the ground and getting active really makes me feel like we are part of a movement...” - Misha Teasdale, Greenpop Tree-E-O

Tickets are R590pp and R390 for children under 12. This includes camping, all 6 delicious meals, great music, tools, fun activities and trees for the reforestation effort.

More info on their website here also watch the Reforest Fest video by Makhulu Productions for more of an idea. I really do hope to see some of you there.
