Holla Doormat Tutorial

Happy "Holla"days!! & welcome to our little holiday home tour here at the Hunted Interior abode.  As we are currently undergoing a little renovation around here we are very limited in our holiday decorating options.  I had grand plans for an adorable tree for our little lady's room, but I suppose I'll just have to hold onto that idea until next year.  There is always next year!

Our Christmas Tree has been up since October thanks to participating in the Home Depot Holiday Style Challenge once again.  We took the majority of the other decor down, but I did leave the tree up.  I couldn't see taking it down only to put it back up a month later.

I fully intended on duplicating the look but life has gotten in the way this past month & a half so instead I created a few new simple little vignettes with items lying around the house.  Sticking with our black & white palette of course.

I added thin garland with large nostalgic bulbs around two of our door frames in the living room.  The one that is headed into the kitchen got a little something extra as this is the most used in the house.

Using a little bow (in my favorite ribbon), some leftover silver & white ornaments & a simple banner cut from a roll of kraft paper I had lying around, I took this door frame from functional to festive.  I used a black marker to write out Merry & Bright.  This could also be duplicated by tracing your letters or printing your font on an engineering print from your local office supply store.  Your banner would be white, but that would look lovely too.

Wanting to bring a little Christmas into the kitchen I utilized our chalkboard wall & drew Christmas Tree Frame in a classic urn.  I used small clear command strip hooks to string the lights on my Chalkboard Tree.  After stringing a strand of lights & adding a few ornaments I am thrilled with the visual impact this little tree has made.

Needing ornaments that were lightweight & flat on one side (to save space) Chloe & I had a little crafting session.  She colored on some plain card stock paper.  Once her masterpieces were complete I cut them into circles.  Each ornament required two circle: One flat & One bent in half.  I simply glued the bent one  in the center of the flat one & let them dry.  I was going to add ribbons, but we just never got around to it.... She is very proud of her ornaments & tells everyone who comes through the door that she made those!

I dressed our stone bust with one of Chloe's Winter hats & added some fresh pine limbs to a large vase. Since we have a fake tree, I love to incorporate live greenery in accents to help bring that scent into the house!  Plus it's less mess.

I also added little live pine tassels I whipped together on our hallway doors.  They add just a little holiday touch to our new hallway.  I can't believe I haven't shared this space yet!!!!  Next week.  I swear.
