Two major sporting events take center stage this weekend with the Waste Management Phoenix Open here in the sunny Valley and the Super Bowl in frigid New Jersey. Waste Management Phoenix Open: January 30 - February 2

Whether you go for the party atmosphere or to see the top golfers in the world ply their trade, the Waste Management Phoenix Open is a spectacle not to be missed. More than 400,000 attendees - and likely over 170,000 on Saturday alone - will flock to the TPC Scottsdale's Stadium course throughout the week for the tournament's famous revelry and the chance to see Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson and more famous faces from the PGA Tour.

That 70's Play Date: January 31

The Children's Museum of Phoenix gets turned over to adults Friday night with a throwback 70's party. Hit the dance floor to music of the decade, play retro games and dig in at the food booths and cash bars. Leisure suits and platform shoes are optional.

Chinese Lantern and Folk Festival at Fountain Hills: January 31 - February 9

Come celebrate with the Chinese New Year with the colorful illuminations - some up to 60 feet long and 40 feet wide - of the inaugural Chinese Lantern and Folk Festival along the lake in Fountain Hills. The festival will also feature cultural dancing, handmade crafts, food, music and more.

The Mayor's Super Bowl Party: February 2

In how many other cities can you party poolside while watching the Super Bowl? Join Mayor Greg Stanton for the big game and the official countdown to next year's Valley-hosted Super Bowl XLIX at the Hotel Palomar's LUSTRE Rooftop Garden. Mix and mingle with former Arizona Cardinals players and Arizona Rattlers cheerleaders while noshing on LUSTRE's special game-day menu.
